Yup, humans are just that passionate about Sports and Football/Soccer is the biggest sport humans across the world are very, very, passionate about.

There have been previous outbreaks of trouble at matches in Indonesia, with a strong rivalry between clubs sometimes leading to violence among supporters.

“All sports clubs (in Indonesia) that compete between the cities are always intense,” Indonesian football analyst Dex Glenniza told CNN, who noted that it was “forbidden” for Arema and Persebaya supporters to visit each other’s stadiums.

“(This is) in order to avoid friction and clashes between supporters,” he said. “But there are still many incidents between the supporters, most of which off the field."

Criticism is also growing over the police’s handling of Saturday’s event. In a statement released on Sunday, watchdog group Indonesian Police Watch (IPW) called for accountability and the “removal” of Malang Police Chief Ferli Hidayat.

“This is the worst event in Indonesian soccer. The police chief should be ashamed and resign,” IPW said.

“The death toll must be thoroughly investigated and President Jokowi must pay attention,” it added.

Exiled Indonesia rights advocate Veronica Koman of Amnesty International condemned the police’s use of tear gas.

“This instance of abuse of tear gas by police is unlawful and amounts to torture,” she said.

“Tear gas is illegal in warfare – but why is it still legal for domestic use?”

There is a very fine line within Sportsmanship. This usually happens when humans forget that what is happening first and foremost is a game. The line gets crossed when humans perceive Sports as more than just a game. Especially when competition is involved.

There's many reasons for how Sports is more than just a game. Sports have been seen to be a way to show nationalism, for a nation to compete and prove they are more dominant over any other country, being number one. No one likes being the loser, no human wants to be shown as weak. So humans will react to the others taunting that weakness and being a loser.

Being passionate and reacting in negative ways isn't just related to Sports. It's also related to music, just look at how people who are very passionate about a band reacts when that band does something which makes the person lose that passion. How does a person react when their favorite band decides to do something completely left field?

"Consider this question...What are you willing to live/die/kill for?"

Are Sports games really worth dying over? Does a person feel alive when their sports teams enter the field, which they dont feel alive without it? Would you kill as a way to honor your sports team when the team gets insulted?
I don't know how they can be so proud of winning with them odds. - Little Big Man
