Hit LaBrie's F# sharp in "Learning to Live"
« on: July 08, 2022, 12:51:55 PM »
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of Images and Words, I thought it might be fun for people to post videos of themselves trying to hit JLB's F# sharp in "Learning to Live." Just the 15 seconds or so of "woooahs" featuring the F# sharp, not the whole song. Good or bad, just for fun. :)

There was a time when I could hit and hold that note with power most days, with proper warmup.  But I haven't sung in that range in a long time.  I just don't have that upper end of my range anymore and would have to spend months of work to build back to it.

What if I hit it on my guitar?  Does that count?
Everyone else, except Wolfking is wrong.

Okay, I’ll embarrass myself lol. I did it without hearing the song right before so hopefully the notes are correct.

I can do the 2017 live rendition with it down a half step, but F5 is the height of my range.

Thanks for the compliments. I may not have the best sounding voice, but I have a pretty wide falsetto range! Always thought about auditioning for a power metal band or something haha

I used to be able to, but I grew up and more recently my voice has diminished from being sick. People can crap on JLB’s voice all they want, but that is damn hard to hit and he does it amazingly.
Let's go with a P for Deadeye has premature alphabetejaculation.

Awesome!! 🤘

BTW my personal favorite live moment captured of the F# is this one. I guess it means more because it's around 2005 and you really didn't expect him to do it this powerful at that point:

Oh nice! Do you remember that moment as something special when you saw it? I remember that video kind of made the F# exciting again 😁
