Also, I heard the oldest person in each group was going to start with an extra point. That's true, right?

I heard it was the best looking.

So I get two points?  :) :) :) :)

I'm 39! I think the three of us are pretty close in age but I just edge the two of you out.

Might be a biased small sample size, but late 30s seems to be a heavy demographic for this forum.  After the 90+ range in this thread, that is...

I sense some sarcasm here, but is there some strategy to sending out rounds early?  I skimmed a bit of a couple other roulettes, but I'm still new at this.  Doesn't 425 comment after each round?  I have some tentative selections for round 2/3 and beyond, but I think I want to see commentary on round 1 (particular my picks) to see if I need to make some adjustments.  It's a fine line between competition and self-indulgence.  I imagine part of the fun of this is that it turns into a group listening party, and another part is "forcing" your favorites upon others.

Sending all the rounds at the beginning is just a Cyril thing; no one else does it. I will comment after each round (and I usually give pretty lengthy, detailed comments), and I think it's generally wise to use what the host says to make choices about later rounds.

It is also true that Cyril knows my tastes to a certain extent from past participation in most (maybe all?) of my previous roulettes and is also, I suspect, sending things I probably won't like just to make me try it.

i mean there's definitely a few songs scattered across those playlists i'm less than confident you'll like but i'm trying to give as comprehensive a view of an artist's sound as i can with 1. what i do know from them 2. as much as i can fit into three songs and there's definitely artists here that have rougher edges idk if you'll like, but at the same time i'm trying to not push toooo far out of your boundaries - i don't think there's a move systems here, for example, but who knows! i'm not you

Curious to find out what you sent. :)

Elite and Sacul were always the last to send in my roulette a few years ago, so I imagine we'll be in competition with pool C for tardiness... :)

Well, JP, when asked about having Sherinian play second guitar on some songs live, said "fuck that Winger shit" or something to that effect, but then JR had Kip sing on some of his solo albums, so he must at least be somewhat a fan.

I'm going to repeat this in-thread because a few people apparently missed the memo on this (not necessarily your fault; I know my OP was long):

For each round, submit up to 15 minutes of music by a single artist. This can be one song or several. There is no minimum runtime, but I wouldn't recommend sending one short song up against competitors who are sending 13, 14 minutes of music. I'm assuming anyone who sent one song just missed the memo and PMing them to see if they want to add to their submission, but I wanted to make the PSA for the benefit of those who haven't sent yet.

Oh, right, Morgenstein has collaborated with Rudess too.  Maybe Jordan's actually a Winger superfan?  Someone needs to ask the band about this if it hasn't been asked before.

15 minutes is a challenging number to meet.  I suppose much of anything under a half-hour would be.  My current submission and my candidates for rounds 2 and 3 are around 13 minutes.  I feel like I'm wasting two minutes, but if I try and max out song lengths I'm not necessarily sending the strongest material.  And if there's only 1-3 minutes left, do I send a fun interlude even if it's not as strong as the main songs, worrying that it might dilute the submission, or is more good if not fantastic music always better?  And do I go for the absolute best songs even if they're kind of similar, or try for variety?  So many tough choices...

Common roulettes are usually just single songs.

Ah.  A couple I skimmed were more album-focused.

And I assume it's a hard cutoff at 15:00.  I worked on some combinations that wound up being 10-30 seconds over and had to ax them.
