Alrighty....this will be a bit of a post but I'd like to share my only massage experience with the group.

Two years ago my wife bought us a couples massage for our 15 year anniversary. I'd never had a massage so she decided this would be as good as time as any. She found a 'Groupon' for this parlor near a restaurant we liked so we went to dinner and then headed to get our massages.

First off - great story.  One for your grandkids (when they are old enough obvs).  This is the kind of story that in my family would be brought up at every family gathering with a lot of good natured joking.  Those are the best.

But I want to come back to the notion of a Groupon for a first time massage experience.  Had your wife ever had a massage?  Did she get any recommendations for this place or she just randomly came across what looked like a good deal.  I know it is a long shot but I'd love to see THAT ad.   

And the first part you and your wife were sitting next to each other?  How does one get a lower body massage while seated?  (I'm not doubting your story, I'm just trying to understand the set up...)

And since you were separated for the 2nd part, what was your wife's experience with her massage?  And more importantly, if the place hadn't got raided, would you have gone back?

Yeah, aside from an abundance of apprehension, it doesn't sound like it was unpleasant at all. Once you know what you're getting into, assuming the value was good, I see no problem with it.

I've bought her multiple massage packages but it was always through my brothers work. I really don't know 'where' she found this Groupon.....but....this was her second Groupon purchase that was questionable. Her first one was a Hotel Room purchase in Nashville when we were on a road trip years ago. Let's just say we didn't sleep a wink for fear of murder and being infected by biohazard remnants

Yeah.....we were seated in these pretty comfy chairs....leaned back but not all the way laying down and the massage 'therapists' were seated kind of on the floor in front of us on these small benches and they just worked over our calves, hamstrings, quads and feet. As I mentioned.....getting that done a few hours after running a half marathon was freaking awesome!

She said that she was most definitely NOT fully naked like I was.....and it was similar to what she was used to from Massage Envy. But, she was finished a good 10 minutes before I was.

Don't think I'd have went back. For as good as it all felt it was a really strange experience. I haven't had a massage since.....not that I won't ever again but it was just weird.

I've never had anything but good luck with Groupon. Surprised so many people feel this way. That said, I've only used it with known quantities.

That's the key; my wife has gotten massages through Groupon, but we knew the place.  The ONLY time I've had issue with Groupon wasn't Groupon's problem: I got a duct-cleaning service and it was basically an invite for the sales pitch.  They do the basic vacuum then upsell you (or try to) everything else.

I used to do Groupon more often. Other than always using it for airport parking, I honestly forget about it. Can't think of any bad experiences anytime I've used one.
