I'm not sure it makes up for the 18-minute NOFX song.  :p

Well that’s possibly my all time favourite song ever, soooooooo

I watched the "Fat Mike plays his favorite riffs" video and one of the cooler ones was said to be in that song.  I'm not sure I located it.

Hrmm looking at the list from the past month it shakes out like this:

1. Animals As Leaders - Gordian Naught
2. Kaki King - Frame
3. Kings of Convenience - Killers
4. Kings of Convenience - Summer On The West Hill
5. Russian Circles - Asa
6. Acoustic Labs - Desert Walk
7. Acoustic Labs - Seven Stars
8. Jami Sieber - A Dialogue Of Silk
9. Kings of Convenience - Ask For Help
10. Plaid - Zamami

Back at it again, and Reaps 10 is up today. I already know Animals as Leaders and Russian Circles. I think some of these other bands were on the many, many EPs in Ariich’s roulette, right?

Jeez it's been a year since I posted that list :lol

I know Reaper has both submitted Kings of Convenience in many roulettes and posted them numerous times in the "what album" thread.  Sadly they never seem to do well, which is a real shame.

I will make sure to make every roulette suffer through bands I think are great :lol

I'll have to post an updated list when on get in my pc

I watched the "Fat Mike plays his favorite riffs" video and one of the cooler ones was said to be in that song.  I'm not sure I located it.

It starts at 9:45 in the song, right before the “Place a wager on your greed…” part. Damn, I love that song so much.

Great batch Tom, that Teramaze epic was particularly tasty.

Onto another Litho batch now…

New set:

Evanescence - What You Want
Francesca Battistelli - I'm Letting Go (Dented Fender Sessions version)
Liquid Divine/Yrea - Comagirl (Flaque Remix)

Passport - Ataraxia (Parts I-II)
Phil Keaggy - In the Bleak Mid-Winter (Welcome Inn version)

Æries - "Crystals"

Just got through this list and there were some really great songs here, especially that Æries track.

Damn, sent Æries in the wrong roulette.  Hate it when that happens.

KMFDM and Skinny Puppy were not for me though.

They are definitely on the fringes of my taste for various reasons, and coincidentally, are songs I PMed recently to two other people because I figured they might have a shot of also slotting into other taste Venn diagrams.  But they're cool enough that wider exposure wouldn't be so bad either, hence their inclusion on this playlist.

Onto another Litho batch now…

New set:

Ayreon - E=mc2
David Maxim Micic - Smile
Evanescence - What You Want
Francesca Battistelli - I'm Letting Go (Dented Fender Sessions version)
Liquid Divine/Yrea - Comagirl (Flaque Remix)
Morphide - Panopticon
Passport - Ataraxia (Parts I-II)
Phil Keaggy - In the Bleak Mid-Winter (Welcome Inn version)
Pure Reason Revolution - Lucid
Triosence/Sara Gazarek - Like the Wind
Wheel - Wheel

I already know about half of these, should be good.

Added them to my existing playlist for convenience, I'll probably catch up and add other batches later on as well.

Edit:  The Keaggy track is not exactly the same as the Welcome Inn version (I think it fared better as a solo acoustic piece), but it's close enough for a sample, and much closer than the Hymnsongs version at least.  Heck, here's the Welcome Inn version.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Xx1Sx4ktc

Edit 2:  Added the 9/11/22 batch as well,  Sordid Pink's teaser cover of Black Sabbath's "Changes" is buried on Youtube and hard to find if you don't know where to look, i.e., right below, and it's only a minute anyway, so no time wasted.  I just put the highly overlooked "Rusted" on the Spotify playlist as a substitute.

My music taste is really all over the place. Some selections from the Spotify playlist "On repeat":

1. Når de døde danser - Oslo Ess (Norwegian ska/punk. This is my clear #1 at the moment, it's on constantly!)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qgRCWH6SCI4

2. The Dreamer - White Moth Black Butterfly
3. Vermillioncore - Steven Wilson
4. La Muerta - Subsignal
5. Man With a Stick - Fish
6. Big Apple, 3PM - Tee Lopes (I'm a retro gamer, and this captures the 90's Turtles games perfectly!)
7. If It All Comes Down to You - Anekdoten
8. The Abyss - Daniel Tompkins (I am so looking forward to an album here!)
9. Blind Side - Skyharbor
10. Year of the Young - Smith & Thell

I’ve been quite strict with myself about working through these lists in order, but I gotta check this out. It’s pretty darn rare that I get recommended some ska punk that I don’t know on DTF, so here goes.

Edit: Yea that was pretty cool dude. I don’t listen to any ska punk outside of the UK/US to be honest, although I have dabbled in the past. Can you recommend an album to start with?

You liked it? That's awesome. They (Oslo Ess) are more a pop punk band really, but they usually include a ska track on each album.

Some other ska tracks from them are

Det brenner under beina mine
Dette kan ikke gå godt
Dråpe i havet
Fritt fram
Feil folk
Trøbbel

Their albums are very consistent, they have their style and stick to it. I would maybe recommend the album "Alle Hjerter Deler Seg" (2014) as a starting point, but they're all pretty good. The (Norwegian) lyrics play a big part of it, though. :)

Listening to Alle Hjerter Deler Seg now. Yea, these guys are pretty good. The songs in Norwegian remind me of German punk band WIZO (mainly because they’re not in my native tongue I suppose). I can also hear Turbonegro in their sound, which is no surprise as fellow Norwegians. Cheers for the recommendation dude.

Also, I LOVE Necromancin’ Dancin’!

Some great songs of the top of my head

The Anchoress - 5am
Ritual - The Mice
Scardust - Concrete Cages
Exploring Birdsong - The Baptism
Soul Enema - The Aral Sea trilogy
iamthemorning - Lighthouse
Vulkan - This Visual Hex
Mission Jupiter - Billion Miles Away
Evan Carson - Otriad
Mrs Amy Birks  - I Wish

On to these ones this morning. Let’s see how they hit :corn

Edit: So I only knew Iamthemorning and Vulkan out of this batch. Highlights were definitely Scardust and Evan Carson. I was listening to Otriad and thinking “man, this guy sounds like Jim Grey”, then of course realised it actually was Jim.

I’ll keep with this and fire up the next on the list, which is another Lizzo batch…

Dirty Loops - Rock You
Dreadnought - Liminal Veil
Frayle - Treacle & Revenge
Iress - Shamed
Love Outside Andromeda - Something White and Sigmund
Revocation - Galleries of Morbid Artistry
Soilwork - Vultures
Sordid Pink - Changes
Tool - Culling Voices
We Are The Catalyst - Better

Yea, the ones I didn’t know were Frayle, Iress, Love Outside Andromeda and We Are the Catalyst. None of them particularly grabbed me on one listen. The Dirty Loops song might actually be my favourite. Dreadnought and Revocation are cool but I’m not hugely into either albums these songs are from (especially the Revocation, I can barely remember it). Tool are Tool, I’ve been a casual fan for a long time but honestly don’t get the fuss. The latest is pretty good though. Soilwork though, I just can’t find anything I like. I’ve probably listened to pretty much all their albums (some 10+ times) but they always strike me as the blandest of melodeath. Some good stuff definitely, but most misses the mark.

7/10

Hmm, didn't even predict that right.  So you're into In Flames and At The Gates, but not Dark Tranquillity and Soilwork.

Scardust - Concrete Cages
Highlights were definitely Scardust

Oops, should have sent this to you instead of Crow.   :lol

I love Slaughter of the Soul specifically, but do enjoy some of their other stuff. Yea In Flames I pretty much love, and they were my first melodeath band. I like some of the early Dark Tranquility I’ve heard (like 90s and very early 00s), but not so much their later stuff. If we’re talking good melodeath then Carcass are up there for more, and I love their early grind stuff as well. Soilwork don’t hold a candle to those bands for me.

I think I finally have enough for a new batch outside of ones related to current or recent roulettes.

Alex Melton - "Everlong"
Fiona Apple - "Shadowboxer"
Gunship/Lights/Tim Cappello - "Empress of the Damned"
Hordes In Exile - "The Emptiness In Which You Hide"
Iona - "And the Angels Dance"
Jimmy Eat World - "Bleed American"
Kate Havnevik - "Yu"
Paramore - "Ain't It Fun"
The Mission UK - "Butterfly On a Wheel"
Them Are Us Too - "Eudaemonia"

First 10 here.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3V0AeZ5SydeOE7Neu33f2i

The rest are chronological batches of 10 or so from previous posts, alphabetical within each batch.

Lighter Touch - Heart
Mistral Wind - Heart
Forget Her - Ann Wilson
A View From The Top of The World - Duh
Awaken the Master - Duh
The Odyssey - Symphony X
Where Eagles Dare - Iron Maiden
Nightcrawler - Judas Priest
Beyond the Realms of Death - Judas Priest
Kentucky Rain - Elvis

Now that I'm done ranking my 2023 albums, I'm back to this.

A nice little batch Dream Team. Can't say I know any Heart songs, other than Barracuda, but I quite liked the solo in Lighter Touch. The Odyssey was the main highlight here. I know I've heard this song multiple times before, but I've never been a fan of the band really. The song hit different tonight. It really is like Dream Theater and Seventh Wonder mixing some video game music into their prog, and I love that. Might spin it again tomorrow, it's pretty damn good

I'm trying to decide whether I like The Serpents Egg or Within the Realm of a Dying Sun more, and I'm torn.

The Serpent’s Egg is great, but Within…is my favorite DCD album.
