I trust your parents' lives were all the more full and rewarding having been each other's buddy.

When my mom died I thought my family lost its moral compass. I was wrong. She instilled those qualities in us.

They were; I could see the light go out of my mom's eyes when he died. She's been on borrowed time since then, for sure.

Thank you all for your kind words. I've not cried much since my dad died; I guess I knew I had to take care of mom first. I found out yesterday around 11:30 and I think I cried more yesterday than in all the days since June when dad passed. It's kind of over, you know what I mean?

(By the way; anyone have any experience with assisted living/memory care? Turns out she passed on SATURDAY, and my brother got the call Monday from the FUNERAL HOME, not where she was living. I'm probably not going to make much of that, but that does seem weird to me.)

First off, sorry for your loss Stads. I lost my Mom 7 or 8 years ago. She was only 61. My kids only have my Dad left in terms of a blood grandparent. They do have a step-grandfather but they despise him, as do I.

Second, there is something very wrong with them taking days to notify the family. Not that there is probably much you can do, but that's just so wrong.

Sorry for your loss Stads. If it gives any comfort, my grandparents both passed fairly quickly after each other and all of my family found some comfort that those two weren't seperated for too long and that their bond was strong. Your parents are together again.

Also my condolences to Emtee, sorry for your loss as well.

They talk about seasons of life, but I'm not sure that makes the seasons of mourning any easier or feel any less raw. Hang in there.

It goes without saying, even if it has to be said: The out-pouring of well wishes and thoughts and prayers is beyond words, and makes a difficult time more manageable. It's unquestionably why this is the only forum I spend ANY time on and I thank you. It's profoundly meaningful to me.
