Song listed updated with Burning Ambition, Invasion and Reach Out.

Sorry, Tim, obscure or not, Women in Uniform is a cover, so I did not add it.

No problem. It's not on my list anyway.  :)

TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Yeah, I suspect all of these "should it be on there or not" songs wouldn't get enough support to have a shot at the top 75, so quibbling over them seems pointless, if you ask me. :D

But VH's covers were included?

Not that it's going anywhere near my list, but still.

Yes, because they were on actual studio albums.

Were any of these Maiden covers on actual studio albums?  If the answer is no, then there is your answer.

The original was better anyway.  Great band Skyhooks were.

I'm going through all the songs in ranking engine and I'm having a hell of a time picking between some songs.... this is hard...  :corn

Yes, this is very hard and I also think we are all in for some major shocks judging by the previous countdowns. Also hoping we can get a bit more participation in this one, I know there are a few big Maiden fans (some new, some old) around who aren't really Rush or VH fans, its different perspectives that make these countdowns so great.

Hehe, I'll give you a perfect example of the conundrum I'm having....

How do you pick between Where Eagles Dare and Ghost of the Navigator?

Those are from 2 different eras of the band, but also 2 amazing songs. How do I even compare them?

Good one, yes it is hard. I guess for me, I am old school so if I am up against what I feel is a really tough choice, I am probably going to favour the older track as I have more history with it. So I would be choosing Where Eagles Dare in that match up, but to be honest I am probably choosing Where Eagles Dare over most songs....however in general comparing reunion v classic era songs is pretty tough and this is where I feel we will get some pretty different results in the countdown.

I can actually see someone or more than one person ranking Ghost of the Navigator top 10 and not even ranking Where Eagles Dare (and same with the reverse).

See, I didn't really have a hard time with the Maiden Ranker. The Rush one was brutal. But I'm more of a hardcore Maiden fan, so I guess I know pretty clearly how I see each song. I'm a lot less hardcore when it came to Rush, especially cross eras.

I havne't done one of these rankers before, but might give it a go with Maiden to see what comes out.  How long does it take?

Depends how many songs you want to rank. I did an eyeball cut down to 106 tracks. I ran those through the ranker. Took like 15 minutes at about 400 head to heads.

How long it takes depends on how much you agonize over each choice. It could’ve been 15-20 mins. I don’t remember.

It does most if the work for you. Gives your list a general outline. You can always fine tune it manually.

I am SHOCKED at the songs that didn’t make the The Top 75.

We did that song countdown thread in 2020, so I've just gone back and found the top 60 I did.  There will be a few changes off the bat and will be interesting to see how the ranker does.  Plus Senjutsu has come along since then.

Any chance of fitting 40 songs in the top 20? This is far harder than Rush and VH for me.

I did agonize quite a bit over certain head-to-head choices when I did it for Rush. I had the list down to 100 names before I put them in the ranker. It's kinda fun, actually, although there were moments when I almost literally screamed no way I can pick one  But that's the point, I guess. I don't remember how long it took me, my guesstimate is between 20 and 30 minutes.

I'm still in the process of cutting the Maiden list to 100 songs...

I’m going to try to be a little smarter on this one. I’m not gonna put myself through the torture of ranking every single song. I don’t see the need to put things like TAATG on the list. Sometime this week I will come up with a rough list of probably a little over 100 songs and then throw that into the ranking engine.

EDIT - I am however, going to spend some time the remainder of this week trying to refamiliarize myself with the reunion material. I know the old stuff like the back of my hand but I need to give some fresh ears to some of the newer stuff
