Two shortcomings of the VHIII album are..
1. While you can tell it's Alex VH by his style, the album lacks the dynamics and liveliness that his drums are known for. This album would benefit from Alex's trademark sound.
2. The same can be said for the backing vocals. Michael's (especially) and Eddie's backing vocals, to me, are one of the band's trademarks. The backing vocals on this album are really stifled.
Cherone sounds fine, if not a lot like Sammy. The songs aren't great, but if it sounded more like VH, with the two above points as an example, I think it would've been better.
