Official Top 75 Rush songs Thread!!! (Top 2 revealed!!)

I'm willing to bet right now there will be at least 10 songs that make the overall top 75 that didn't make my list at all. 

My list will be heavily skewed toward 2112-MP; outside of maybe 5 songs, my Top 20 might come from those 5 albums exclusively.

Kinda my situation, Fly by Night through Signals and then a couple from Vapor Trails and Clockwork Angels. Tried listening to some other albums during work last night, remember liking Dog Years and Limbo from Test for Echo. Still my knowledge of GUP thru TFE is extremely limited. Gonna be an exercise . . .

I would say no on Broon's Bane, as that is similar to Neil's live drum solos in that it is a solo live piece.  Hope is a solo piece as well, but it's on a studio album.

Bottom tier song v. bottom tier song is equally as hard, although I stopped agonizing over it since these songs aren't gonna make the top 75.

Mid-tier songs from different eras are also really hard (e.g., Double Agent v. A Passage to Bangkok).

I'm about 85% done at this point.

Exactly. I self whittled it down to 82 songs, but that's still almost 300 head to heads.

this is why I have always struggled to rank songs vs albums.

I would do better just listing 75 songs in Alphabetical order and just send in my votes that way, but it goes against the way this is being done.

Also why when wanting to make Annual Playlists from historical years, I've been struggling to do that, or rather, than ranking them, just making the Playlist totally random.

I have my 75 songs. The harder part for me is putting them in order.  I’m going to have to devote time on the weekend for this!

Kev, what's your preferred format for the list in the PM? My guess is you said this already in the DT thread...but it doesn't hurt to ask again 

List in the body of the message, reverse order...I assume it's easier for you to copy/paste in a spreadsheet if there's no ranking numbers by the song names, correct?

List sent! It was hard, but the ranking engine was great help. Cut down original list to 100 first, and worked with that.

Since we are all talking about Power Windows...well, it's very well represented in my list too, as expected  Without revealing anything more, I have 3 in the top 25

I think I might give this a go. This isn't something I am very familiar with doing - ie making list of favourite songs etc..

Also, while I do really like Rush they aren't one of very favourite bands and I only regularly listen to around half their discography but that should get me 75 songs plus I'll give the other albums a spin.

To everyone, my bad earlier.  To be clear, when sending me your PMs, please make sure to number each song 75 to 1 rather than just listing them.  I input them into the spread sheet manually by sight and without numbers I am more likely to mess up.

I sorted out all the songs in my top 6 or 7 albums plus all the other songs I know would easily make my Top 75. That got me to about 50. Fleshing out the next 25 might be a challenge, I do not know. There are a bunch of mid-80s Rush songs that all run together for me.

I’m going through the ranker right now and it’s VERY painful.

The top tier stuff is pretty easy to separate from anything below it, but once you get into mid-tier stuff (which is probably the majority of their catalog) the head to head matches become excruciating. I’ve literally winced at a couple. And if they are from different eras it’s even worse, because you like them about the same, but it’s apples and oranges and it can come down to mood.

I can't believe how many times I had to say "wow, I have to choose ONE?"  But I didn't do any pre-ranking before.  I put all of them in there and started from scratch, so to speak.   It was really illuminating.   I often say "that's a top five" or "that's a top ten" song, and when it comes down to it there are only 5 or 10 spots for like 25 songs!  It's interesting how that plays out.  But there were few surprises in my list. 

I had three Power Windows songs in my list, one top ten.  I was surprised how many Hold Your Fire songs made it, though.
