Don't understand all the hate for HTF. While it wasn't my favorite for a long time, it's grown on me quite a bit over the years so that it is my favorite now.

Vacant is lovely and a nice breather for the album, but I'd still prefer to listen to the others over it. I agree with Scotty that HTF gets more hate than it deserves, though it would still be my next vote if Vacant went out.

Yet another album where my favorites completely deviate from the popular vote. I’m voting Endless Sacrifice all the way. But In the Name of God is one of the more overrated songs in their history as well.

Vacant is gorgeous and might be one of my favorites. Every time I play the album I always repeat it two or three times before going into SOC.

This is one of those albums that I was really fired up about when it first came out. But a couple of songs like ES didn’t age very well. Today I feel like it’s a really strong mid tier album that seems almost underappreciated because people either really love it or put it near the bottom.

But ya, Vacant and HTF are easily top 3 or 4 from this album for me. But…tastes.

AIA might be their greatest opener of all time, so I hope that beats out ITNOG.

Vacant has definitely climbed the ranks for me over the years. I'd probably put it #2 behind In the Name of God.

I’d say the only tracks I enjoy on ToT are Vacant, Stream of Consciousness, and In the Name of God, but ITNOG didn’t hold up so well for me either the last time I listened to it. Honor Thy Father would be ok as an instrumental or with less awful lyrics.

I missed the release of this album due to being in boot camp. Once I graduated, I went to the airport to travel to my next school. I saw the album on a shelf in a music store in the airport. I immediately bought it, and a discman to listen to it with. Was the perfect album to listen to leaving that environment. Has always been one of my favorites.

Vacant is second for me, with only Stream of Consciousness ahead of it. The two of them together make up my favorite song duo in Dream Theater’s entire discography, even over Wait For Sleep/Learning to Live, Far From Heaven/Breaking All Illusions, and every two part act in Scenes From a Memory.
