So the newest Disney+ MCU show is upon us, and on the eve of its premiere, I figured I'd star the thread. Personally, I've kept up with some of the promo material and have some knowledge of the characters going in, but it'll be interesting to see how it all shakes down, especially given some of the characters' (like Echo) comic counterparts and their relationships with other heroes/villains that may or may not appear in this show (like Kingpin).

I'm just excited to see Hailee Steinfeld in the MCU, and I kind of hope this show paves the way for the Young Avengers finally starting up now that we've seen Elijah Bradley (in TFATWS), Kid Loki (in Loki), and Tommy and Billy Maximoff (in WandaVision), with a new Cassie Lang coming up in Quantumania, plus possibly including other young heroes like Ms. Marvel and Iron Heart (both coming to Disney+).

As for Hawkeye himself, it'll be fun to see him finally break out into a lead role, and I'm interested in learning more about MCU Hawkeye.

The comic series this is based off of is fantastic, so I am really looking forward to the show.  Plus, from the previews, it appears to have a Shane Black-esque, Christmas-set-action-movie vibe that I'm digging.

Slow day at work, just hammered out both episodes.

This one is gonna be fun. I fucking pissed myself at the LARP scene...

Watched the first two episodes and really enjoyed it! Hailee is amazing and getting more of Jeremy as Clint Varton is always good. Hard to believe he's been at this for a solid decade now since Thor!

I have suspicions about Elenor Bishop and Kate's dad's death. Also, they're really leaning into the Jack-killed-his-uncle narrative that I think it's a red herring.

Cannot wait for more! The dynamic between Kate and Clint is just beginning but I've been enjoying it so far! I had no idea Kate was so skilled, she's got trophies for days!

Came in here just to call out the LARP scene. Absolute classic!

Hailee's comedic chops are quite good. This whole thing is going to be very tongue-in-cheek. Nice to have some levity.

This show is awesome!  Love, love, LOVE it so far, after these first two episodes.

Opening it up by tying her origin to the battle of NY was a really great move and set a nice tone.  And speaking of tone, I like the overall light tone of this, as well as the holiday season tie-in.  It is very lighthearted, along the lines of the Ant Man films, but seems pretty grounded and everyday, which is cool.

Lalo was great, the guy just oozes charisma. Kate is cool, the tone seems at times home alone-ish. Wonder of it's because it's in NYC and Christmas. Either way. I'm interested but it's kinda just there for me.

Was reading up on the comic version of Echo, and in the books her father is a soldier of Kingpin. Wouldn't it be epic if they made her father Wesley?

The ironic thing about that is that Hawkeye never got within 50 yards of him it seems. And mysteriously, NO ONE was anywhere near Thanos other than the Big 3 and Captain Marvel during the climactic scene of Endgame. I guess he "fought" him in a figurative sense.

It's not "ironic" at all.  I fought Saddam in 1990/91.  Never saw him.  Never came within 100 miles of him.  But I "fought Saddam" alongside my band of brothers.  Lots of men and women of a previous generation "fought Hitler," despite never personally seeing or coming into contact with him personally.  Everyone knows what that means.  Don't overthink it.

I mean, I get that it’s played for comedy…but I honestly felt like Hawkeye watching it.

I got that “uncomfortable laugh” like from a Ben Stiller movie.

Saw the first two episodes.  They're pretty good.

I don't read the comic books and try to avoid trailers, so for some reason I thought this was about Hawkeye and his daughter, who he was teaching to shoot in the movies.  That kinda made sense to me.

"... but in the comic books..."

"... but in the trailer it's obviously..."

Yeah yeah yeah.

Wow what an episode. I really enjoyed the first two but this one was SO Much more of what I was expecting in this series. Great dynamic between Kate and Clint, lots of really cool choreography in the fights and the car chase (the oner in the car was really well shot), and some really emotional moments like Clint on the phone. The final scene has me excited for that duel!!

Yeah this episode was great. The action sequence was really well done. I enjoyed it quite a bit. The two do have great chemistry together and I really liked the Maya character as well. Would have liked more of Lalo but next episode should be fun.

Also the debut of Kingpin’s hand. Maybe we’ll get him one piece at a time.

I loved the Pym Arrow as well, but it opens up so much possibilities about how it came to be. Like, after Tony's Funeral, did the remaining Avengers approach Hank to be their new tech-guy, especially given that it was his tech that helped them venture into the Quantum Realm and travel time to save the universe. I wonder if Hank was more willing now that Tony was gone, or perhaps he finally felt a sense of duty and responsibility to help the world, especially since he was gone from it for five years. Hopefully we get some answers to that in Quantumania, unless they bring it up in a movie before hand (Multiverse of Madness or Wakanda Forever, more than likely).

Also one thing to note, this series is taking place in December of 2024, which is long after the events of Spider-Man: Far From Home, which was the latest entry in the MCU chronologically speaking until now, which takes place during the summer of 2024 after the school year, and depending on the time frame of No Way Home, Hawkeye may still be long after that film as well. That means the events of Endgame were over 13-14 months ago in the time of the Hawkeye series, which is a LONG time to not see what certain characters have been up to, including Hank Pym, but I have a suspicion that many of the upcoming films will fill in those gaps and by the time we reach the end of 2024 in OUR real world, we may catch up to the MCU in real time and be "current" again.

Excellent episode again. Looks like it's two more left, is this show meant to be a one-off season? or will it be like Loki and continue?

Curious to see how it develops. We still got to deal with Maya, Yelena, and hopefully Kingpin. That's a lot of cleanup for two hours.
