Is anyone an expert on photo editing or photoshop?

Basically, is anyone legit at this stuff. 

Long story short is I'm doing Movember, and I only signed up for the running part of the challenge I'm doing with a few guys.  I thought I could just shave down and let everything grow for 30 days but the organiser is saying he wants progress photos every 10 days.  I sent him a photo and he's like 'nah mate, mo only.'  The organizer is in another state.

I'm not doing that.  I'll look horrible and I work closely with children lol.  My solution is shave down the beard, send the pic and cut down the mo to even it out for 10 days, or can anyone take out a beard on photo shop?   I know that's cheating but no way I'm walking around with just the mo.  Is this something easy anyone can do?

it's incredibly basic. But somehow it does what I need.

It's that complicated because Adobe disregards all of the standard conventions of windows, and has somehow found a way to be intuitively counter-intuitive (which is quite remarkable). We use both here at work, but I'm more of an Illustrator kind of guy, and I can't do a single job without cursing Adobe for any number of silly things. The entire world knows that you hold down CTRL to zoom in and out with the mouse wheel. Not Adobe, though. That moves left and right. Stupid things like that. And somehow it always knows where you want to save a file to and defaults to someplace different. I really despise those people.

When it comes to photo stuff, GIMP FTW.

As to the OP, removing stuff is always easier than adding stuff. I doubt anybody's going to add a convincing looking beard to your pic. Somebody with skills can make you look clean shaven, though. At least that's my hunch.

Zydar, might need a touch up on that one.  As I probably can't thin the mo out again in the last 10 days, that would defeat the purpose of the whole thing.  Yet those 10 days, I'll be giving swimming lessons to children haha.

It's the infamous story of how Henry Cavill was called for reshoots for the Justice League movie and he had grown a thick mustache while shooting MI:6. Paramount refused to allow him to shave it for the reshoot and Warner Bros had to shell out a fortune to CGI the mustache out of the shots. The result was hilarious-looking lips whenever Cavill is on screen. I think some youtube made a video how you can actually do a better job with off the shelf tools than what WB did for that movie.
