Huh?

I think they mean "Make a compilation CD (of 80 minutes or less) featuring Dream Theater Songs that have been inspired by Rush's songs/sounds/styles from over the course of DT's discography".

Barstool Warrior, The Best of Times, and Tears come to mind right of the bat (and one from 'A View')
...going along with Dragon Attack's Queen thread has been like taking a free class in Queen knowledge. Where else are you gonna find info like that?!

Throw in "The Looking Glass", "Surrender To Reason", and "S2N" (sounds a bit like latter-day Rush to me, a bit of "Driven" and "Headlong Flight").

1. Status Seeker
2. The Looking Glass
3. The Best Of Times
4. Transcending Time
5. I Walk Beside You (arguable)
6. Behind The Veil
7. Along For The Ride
8. About To Crash/ About To Crash Reprise/ Losing Time

A bit out of the box on a few, but it is more to get the pacing right.
She can turn a drop of water
         Into an ocean
In the room the women come and go
                                                 Talking of Michelangelo.

Here's mine (which comes in at 78 minutes and change):

The Great Debate
Status Seeker
Barstool Warrior
The Looking Glass
The Best of Times
Ytse Jam
Along for the Ride
About to Crash
Transcending Time
Trial of Tears
As a basic rule, if you hate it, you must solely blame Portnoy. If it's good, then you must downplay MP's contribution to the band as not being important anyway, or claim he's just lying. It's the DTF way.

Two tracks not mentioned that have strong Rush vibes in places:

Peruvian Skies (intro is straight from The Necromancer)
The Great Debate (similar vibe as Natural Science in places)

I use my sig to pimp some bands from Italy! Check out Elvenking (Power / Folk metal), Folkstone (Rock / Medieval metal), Arcana Opera (Gothic/Noir/Heavy metal) and the beautiful voice of Elisa!

Pssst! Look at the post right above yours and the first track I listed.

Peruvian Skies (intro is straight from The Necromancer)
I can see why you'd say this. I was fortunate enough to see DT do their cover of The Necromancer live, and when they started playing it, I thought it was PSkies, but it was confusing because they had already played it at that show. Took another minute or so for me to realize what they were playing but I was blown away when I did.

With that said, I still would say PSkies sounds more like PF's Have a Cigar than The Necromancer.

Ah, woops! Late night skimming is not very effecting.

I wonder if it isn’t a little of both though, since the band have both covered The Necromancer and obviously worked Have a Cigar into Peruvian Skies on OiALT. What’s weird is that Wish You Were Here and Caress of Steel were released 12 days apart in September of 1975. Kind of spooky!

Although as a whole it doesn't necessarily sound like a Rush song, there's one chord progression in "Breaking All Illusions" at 50 seconds in (and repeated during the "Searching Out, Reaching In..." vocal part) that always makes me think of "Between The Wheels".
