Trains
is the best Porcupine Tree song but it certainly isn't for everyone and I would not expect TAC to fall under the group of people it is for, which is why I didn't send it

an area at the side of a road where vehicles may pull off the road and stop; a rest stop.
a mooring area along a canal, river, or harbor.
Dude. Wow. I didn't pick up on that at all! [DARK SUBJECT MATTER ALERT! DARK SUBJECT MATTER ALERT!] My friend Mary I posted about in the Depressed/Angry thread (in response to Harmony's post) actually died of a heartattack in a layby. It was a commuter parking lot, to be precise, but it was a sort of "rest stop" for I-91. That's messed up!
But I still don't like Steven Wilson's music.
That's awful, I'm sorry to hear about that.
What makes Heartattack In A Layby so ungodly depressing for me isn't that it's about a man dying from a heart attack - it's that if you read the lyrics, it's clear that he doesn't
realize he's dying. The ending of the song isn't him accepting his fate, it's him thinking about how he'll return home to his wife who he just had an argument with and apologize to her. "We'll grow old together". Couple that with the music and... oof. It might not be the most emotionally authentic song ever, but it makes up for that with flawless calculation and execution to deliberately make me feel as shitty as possible.
