Also, it's perfectly fine to send two PT songs so the question didn't matter anyway.

It would be different if someone sent two SW songs and one PT song. In that situation, you'd only be able to eliminate one of the SW songs.

You know what's really jumping out at me, with what I've listened to so far. is the influence of Led Zeppelin.

Also..there is some great lead guitar playing.

He has his moments but I never really thought he was that good.

And I don't know what songs you received but his Pink Floyd influence is a lot bigger, but maybe more so in his earlier works.

One of the songs I sent has a massive PF influence, and I don't even really like PF.

I’ve definitely heard Pink Floyd. The drummer is at least a Bonham fan.


And Kwyjibo, I don’t know how technical the guitarist is, but there’s been some great lead passages.

No, you don’t need to send a SW song. It came up earlier in the thread and I said you could send a SW song instead of a PT song. I’ve gotten a few SW songs so far.

Yeah, one interesting part of this roulette has been TAC's comparisons to other artists. It seems like every round he makes a comparison that I've never read before and would never have thought of on my own, but that makes sense when I think about it.

Anesthetize is the worst song on the album fwiw. i stand by this

Heartattack in a Layby is an excellent song that I think is gonna bore TAC to tears but we'll see

Yeah, I definitely would not have sent early PT on this.

Then again, you and I both sent the choo choo song, which is probably counterintuitive—it's just such a good song that I'm willing to bet on it succeeding on its merits.

I find Heartattack in a Layby kind of dull and My Ashes pretty interesting and dynamic, but that might just be a matter of personal preference.

Yeah, I definitely would not have sent early PT on this.

Well, we'll find out! For one thing, Steven's voice is a lot less 'whiny' or 'nasal' on the early records and - to me - some of his compositions there are more interesting than on later records. I think Coma Divine is still one of the best live prog records I've heard. Signify is my favourite PT album, The Sky Moves Sideways and Up the Downstair are up there among his best too, if you ask me. There's a lot of demos and outtakes from that era that are good as well.
