I did not expect those songs to perform so low, relatively speaking! I know the sound you're talking about not liking on Gravity's Union, but I can't say that's ever really bothered me, personally. And NWFT to me is just all killer all the way through, so that's one of those "tastes" moments. I do think it's cool that Gravemakers and Gunslingers did so well. That's not a song I ever really think of except when I'm listening to that album, but it's really good.

I don't have a solid idea of the right way to approach Opeth here, so I'm just going to send two songs I like from the era that is more likely to perform well, I guess.

NWFT got the 5th best score given in the round with only 6 other songs above it. I'd say it scored fairly well. 

I didn't not like Gravity's Union, and I could easily look past the pig. But for me, I just thought there were better songs.

Both of my songs are pre-Heritage

One of them is an obvious long song (but which one?!?!) that I love to death but might be too much for Tim
The other is one of their best blends of prog and metal imo but might be too weird for Tim

I don't expect to do very well this round.

Their top 10 on Spotify is fucking weird. Some obvious ones on there like Ghost Of Perdition and Windowpane but why is their Soldier Of Fortune cover at #2? Why the fuck is Persephone there?

I did not send Bleak.

Nor I, even though it probably is my favorite. I assumed he'd get at least 5 Bleaks from others. I went wild card this round. 2 songs pre-Blackwater and 1 post-Heritage. I tend to think I went a bit obscure on my early picks, but we'll see.

I'll see how Bleak does here and then maybe send it in the PT round.

I think that songs that are on popular curated playlists can sometimes get a lot of plays. Like that Soldier of Fortune cover could be on various cover song compilation playlists.

I also did not send Bleak but similarly sent two pre-Heritage songs. (I like post-Heritage just fine, Heritage itself is kind of eh)

That Soldier Of Fortune cover is spectacular. I'd fight anybody that criticizes Mikael's vocals on that song. He is awesome on that track. That track is the pinnacle of his clean singing.

Heritage is my least favorite Opeth album. Many would cite Orchid, but as I mentioned earlier, I adore that album. The guitar harmonies that Mikael now calls hokey, I absolutely love. I'm not as big on Morningrise, but it's still light-years better than Heritage.
