Other than Claudio, they look like dudes from the parent pickup line at school.

I told the story before of me working at Guitar Center and Claudio being a regular customer when not on tour (Brooklyn store). But I also would see him at Comic Con every year when he was promoting The Amory Wars. You would think he was some geeky store owner if you don't know who he is.

Looking ahead, I think I have my songs from Opeth and Mastodon selected. I have no idea what to send from PT.

I'm in the process of putting writeups together, which means I'm currently listening again. I have about half of the songs done.

Lots of good stuff.

A lot of these songs have a very simply structure..verse-chorus-verse-chorus-a bridge before or after the solo-closing chorus repeated.

Ranking them isn't really the problem, but what is taking time is that I usually do writeups while listening. But these songs end, and I realize I hadn't written anything, so I have to listen again to try and scratch out comments.

Lots of these songs are extremely solid and I like them, but there's just not a ton to point to like "Holy shit this part was awesome" or "That was incredible". What I'm finding is that these songs all have strong choruses, so the comments feel a bit slow coming.

Yeah. The Devin and Haken rounds had quite a bit of diversity. The BTBAM was exhausting to get through, and while the Neal Morse round certainly had diversity it was 27 fucking songs of Neal Morse!


Samey isn't the word I'd use, because to me, samey has a negative connotation and this round is anything but negative.
