So we do have a tree inside, but that one in particular was a small decorated fake tree that Jennie keeps on the porch.

$30 is more of a guideline.  Certainly 10 years ago when this all started, many of us were in different financial positions then vs now.  I usually end up spending a bit more, but don't have any expectations on anyone to do so.
