Between the Buried and Me. Apparently the new BTBAM thread.

Mind you, I have not once to date listened to any metalcore band and liked them.

Give me a reason, DTF.

Oh, then that's on me. Everyone I know who has listened to them has described them as such. And by their pictures, they sort of look the part.

In order,

6. Mordecai.  Amazing stuff, especially when you get to the solo.

They're more of a progressive experimental hardcore band (this label still gives no impression of their sound though).

You could attach the metalcore tag to them, but it's not in the textbook sense; they sound nothing like Trivium, All That Remains, Killswitch, etc.

As if man... Their new style is very un-Metalcore compared to the likes of the first album and maybe the second.

Just listen to Colors. If you don't love it, listen to it again. If you still don't love it, keep trying. It took me almost a whole year to appreciate it fully.

I can't even convince myself to listen to them. I've seen them live twice and listened to some of their material, and there's nothing I like about them.

That's exactly what my friend told me.  I'm kind of lukewarm to them though, and its been almost a year so I don't think they will ever become a band I latch on to.  I do remember Sun of Nothing being the most memorable track on that album.

I liked Colors, but I didn't really get into them until I picked up The Silent Circus.  That's my favorite album from them, and has, like I said, Mordecai.  :heart

This is really the best advice. You really just have to keep listening to it over and over, and it will eventually click.

When I first got Colors (my first btbam album) I rated it a 3.5/5. As more and more time went on though, I began listening to it more and more (at the time, while I couldnt see what everyone was so hyped about, I did have a hard time putting it down) and started appreciating all that I was hearing.

If you don't like them, then you don't like them; you can't force yourself.

I've been a fan since The Silent Circus (loved in on the first listen).  Forcing yourself to listen to Colors over and over isn't going to make you like them.

This is true, and I guess I worded my response incorrectly. The reason I kept listening to it over and over again because I could see moments of brilliance sparkle through each time which made me want to keep listening. If you flat out hate it every time, you should probably stop.

It did for me, and now it's one of my favorite albums.

Though, as antigoon stated, there were parts I did enjoy; but not nearly enough to make me say I liked the album at first.

When I first heard them, I found tracks #2 and #3 too much to digest (off colors). I would start on ants of the sky, finish the album, then go back to the start of it. The later songs seem to be far more melodic and easy to get into.

mmm, white walls.

As far as Colors goes, I liked Foam Born, Prequel to the Sequel, Viridian, and the first half of White Walls.  I don't get the love for Ants of the Sky and Sun of Nothing.

Informal Gluttony's clean singing harmy is the one thing on the album I don't like.

And how can you dislike SoN? The quiet part is amaaaaazing.

Colors is really bad.... don't listen to it.

Their debut album is nearly 5/5, and Alaska is pretty rad too.

My favorite BTBAM songs are Shevanel Cut a Flip and Autodidact.

An image macro  ::)

I fully expect BTBAM's new album to be even worse than Colors. I wish they would go back to writing music that contained memorable songs whose sections actually had a purpose. One of my biggest qualms with Colors is that there is way too much showmanship and fluff and not nearly enough focused songwriting and structuring.

Well it's nice to see people on the opposite side of the spectrum for BTBAM. I personally think Colors is their best and i think The Great Misdirect will be even better. :metal
