Yeah, back in that era Mike seemed to be the one that JLB was closest to (I believe the Lifting Shadows book backs this up), so it's a shame what their dynamic ostensibly became. I wish one of them would shed some more light on what their current conflict is all about because it never gets acknowledged yet you could cut the tension between them with a knife. IIRC Portnoy hasn't even mentioned James by name since leaving the group.
