I'm actually relieved that Heart did this good.  But still salty that Tim put his desire to win above his integrity of keeping to a gentlemen's agreement.

Guess he's following my Roulette motto.  And for that, he gets a  :tup

But I'm still salty.

I still maintain that, at least with the songs that I was sent, all your submissions were pretty much equally poppy, with mostly fairly similar levels of electric guitar involved.

But I appreciate that their wider work may have been more distinct.

Ariich is a freak, or somehow has more hours in the day than everyone else.
I be am boner inducing.

Tim should have sent These Dreams, which is actually the only Heart song I like.

Evermind – Blackmore's Night
1. Play Minstrel Play
2. No Second Chance
3. Spanish Nights (I Remember It Well)

First impression: You are remarkably consistent.

Final opinion: Between this roulette and my last one, that’s now 12 straight rounds scoring 8.1 or higher, which is mighty impressive. This is another great submission - nothing fundamentally unusual but quite a nice twist on straightforward styles. It’s really nice folk music, very rich in melody and sound, but you can also sort of tell it comes from a rock guitarist. Less so in the first two songs, and these are incidentally my favourites, the music is lovely. Spanish Nights definitely sounds like it could have been a folk cover of early Rainbow. :lol But it’s still good fun. The singer’s voice isn’t anything special, but it suits the music really well.

Score: 8.3

I think you may enjoy their work then, I sent busier songs but there are plenty of ballads where it's just acoustic guitar, some keys and vocals. Good to know you liked it!
This first band is Soen very cool swingy jazz fusion kinda stuff.

Precisely why I wouldn't send it. :lol

Fuck that. Never in a million years would I ever send Heart in a roulette. I don't own anything by them. I wasn't sending Blondie to Ariich, sorry. So I was viewing Billboard pop charts.
I noticed Alone was rated pretty highly in whatever year it was, and I went with that.

I had a Police entry ready, I even had an Icicle Works entry ready.

So don't fucking tell me I wasn't playing along.

But I'm still salty.

Probably because I still beat you in a round that I wasn't even trying. :P :P :P :P

Heart is a great send, doesn't surprise me one bit they scored well, and their older stuff is far from pop imho. Ann Wilson is one of the premiere singers of our time, her version of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Center was a performance of a lifetime.

With each passing round I regret sending Slayer more and more. :lol Not that I immediatey have something else I would have rather sent, but still…

Hope you enjoy The Fragile! If you like that you should probably give TDS another listen. Some really great stuff on there. Would also recommend Broken (their most straight-up metal release), With Teeth (a bit more accessible, but some really good songs), and Bad Witch (much more experimental).

Sent!

+1 to all this.  I had Heart on my short list of acts to use in the final 2 rounds.  I'm honestly baffled Tim is so turned off by them, considering he's a big Pat Benatar fan.  I'm being sincere here... no poking fun.  Alone is a god-tier ballad, and Crazy On You is a Top 100 song of all time in my books.  That block of songs you sent was classic rock gold - far from "pop-rock".

I'm not turned off by Heart. I've just never gotten into them. They've always been available on classic rock radio, and I've always been satisfied by that.

As far as Pat Benatar, In The Heat Of The Night was one of the first 8-tracks  :lol I got. We Live For Love was big on the radio at the time I was really becoming musically aware. So her first two albums are essential for me. I never struck that kind of bond with Heart.

Like I said, once I decided to not send Blondie (which was an easy decision) , I was really kind of stuck. I was perusing year end Billboard charts for the early to mid 80's. I had no guilty pleasure pop styled bands back then.

To play along, I would literally have to grab a band out of thin air. Then I saw Heart.
That was last minute.

I had The Police up and ready to go..
