It seems like a bummer that people are writing off Ross Jennings’ involvement without hearing anything. I get that his voice isn’t for everyone, but this project will showcase him in a way that we haven’t heard before so i would say it’s fair to hold judgment until we hear the music. Besides, if it’s good enough for Neal and NDV, who are we to say otherwise?
This seems like a project that could be really refreshing compared to other things these vocalists have been involved in.
I will say that I do think Ross does well in softer moments and in his lower register, so if this is not a particularly heavy project (sounds like it started out being mainly acoustic) he might fit really well. It all depends on how they utilize him. I’m certainly interested to hear how this turns out. It could be a very cool collaboration for sure.
I agree with this. His tone works well in those softer moments of Haken, not so much in those real heavy metal moments. He sounds amazing in Deathless, Bound By Gravity, Visions, The Path.
I could hear this going many different ways, but I could hear more of a Light-hearted, Uplifting, maybe Melancholic type of sound and style. It's just based on Neal's almost Christian music style, Nick's Big Big Train and solo work style, and then Jennings Solo and Novena style (which has elements that are not utilized to their full potential in Haken).
