Interesting.  I like Jackie Chan movies, and one of the big reasons is because he came up with ways to choreograph fights in unusual places.  Fights don't always take place in a dojo or a tournament; those are very controlled and, in some ways, a bit boring.  But if you're on a bus and that's where the bad guys jump you, then that's where you fight.  Or on the side of a building, or wherever.  I liked that Shang-Chi's fights were like that, yet it never once occurred to me that Jackie Chan might have been involved.

Andy Cheng was the fight coordinator for Shang-Chi, and he was part of Jackie Chan's stunt team from the late 90s to the early 00s, then broke out on his own.
Brad Allan, the stunt coordinator, likewise worked with Jackie Chan and was a part of his Stunt Team.

Nice.
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

If I remember, the stunt/fight coordinator was a Jackie Chan protégé.

Ah, so Jackie was an influence, before they went solo.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure I remember that being mentioned in the Assembled episode for this movie. Maybe someone else who watches it can confirm.

As I mentioned above, Andy Cheng and Brad Allan, who both worked on Shang-Chi, were part of Jackie Chan's stunt team. Brad Allan passed away earlier this year not long before the film came out, though, and there is a dedicated to him in the credits.

And I remember seeing the dedication at the end, probably the only genre of movies I would catch that thanks to post credit scenes. :lol

2nd viewing on D+ tonight. I really liked it the first time, but it is FAR better the second time. This is a BEAUTIFUL film. Cinematography, story, acting…it’s all top notch. This is a brilliant addition to the MCU.

That was my reaction as well. I think the first time your so overwhelmed by the action that the subtler nuances get lost.
