Hey, you converted me very successfully, they're one of my favourite bands now!

This is true   I often find the enjoyment of Moonsorrow is directly related to the quality of the audio equipment its being listened to on. It's just so dense and there's so much going on that you lose a lot of it on crappy speakers/headphones.

I've really liked what I heard. I've checked out V: Havitetty, Varjoina..., and Jumalten aika. I definitely need to revisit, though. It's been a while, and there was so much to absorb...

This song is pretty solid,  but easily a highlight so far. Not a huge fan of vocals though.

This is a kind of safe bet. It's good without kicking it up a notch.

I better actually give them a good listen through my decent stereo then. I've mainly been using my headphones, which aren't terrible.

I'm going to do a third listen tonight and start jotting down thoughts. I'm planning to do 4 listens to each song, possibly 5. I'd say expect results by Friday. I may get them done before then, but don't get your hopes up.

I mean, most intricate and/or atmospheric metal benefits from decent headphones or speakers.

Personally, I don't have anything high-end, but I do have a sound set-up that has enough clarity but also a lot of immersion in terms of giving me a nice full sound. For me, that works well for Moonsorrow, but also I love most of their music. Although I have to say that Pimea isn't a particularly immediate song for me, so potentially one where sound quality is more important.

After three listens a couple of these songs have started to grow on me. Currently I'd say we have:

5 really good songs
5 OK songs (with varying issues I have that are holding them back)
1 song that objectively isn't bad, but just isn't my thing

I think I am going to go for 5 listens each, so things could easily still change.
