What album are you listening to? v.7

I guess I kind of expect if there's no commentary, like "just checking this out now", or, "eh, not digging this", that you're implicitly recommending other people check it out, but maybe that's just me.  If I posted everything I listen to there'd be at least half a dozen posts a day, but most of it is either too familiar, too out of DTF's wheelhouse to bother, or I just don't feel like talking about it at the moment.  It just feels like the musical version of "ok, going to my fridge now, ok, going to do laundry now" Facebook status updates if you don't think it's a very good album.

This has the Tiptun brothers from Zero Hour. Much more melodic though.

I don't know. Somedays at work, I can put down like 6-8 albums. Some I'm trying them out and some are classics. Whatever, I list them.

Maybe I'm just not familiar enough with them to know the ones that suck, but a lot of what you've posted at least seemed reasonable.  Until some point earlier this year I kind of thought you were just another generic 80s metal/hard rock guy.

Prog metal but it’s not very interesting. Most of the songs are pretty much ballads with some heavy djenty riffs here and there and the choruses aren’t very memorable.

Gave the A Dying Planet a run through. There's a definite understatedness about it, but it is quite pleasant.

Yeah it is definitely not bad at all but I just wish it had more/better riffs and more memorable choruses. I bought it so I will definitely give it more listens.

Tigran Hamasyen - Atmospheres

Well, inspired by Reaper's Days of the News post, I spun their second. I remember liking it, and it's still very much the case! More layered textures that the debut, with some (light) electronic touches here and there, and orchestration. Some interludes later on sound kinda artsy for the sake of being artsy, but the whole thing has a nice "conceptual" feel to it. Forgot how much I loved the second song, The Real. So good!

Little nugget: the album features a young Nicole Scherzinger (of later Pussycat Dolls fame) quite prominently as backing/co-vocalist.

Yes! It's one of my favorite Tori Amos albums, for sure. Just below Little Earthquakes and Under the Pink, and probably on par with From The Choirgirl Hotel. Great stuff.
