This is pretty cool. It honestly sounds like a cover band with the different vocalist and how different the instrumentation and production is (at least on the older material), but I don't usually like live albums that sound too close to the studio versions so I'm not complaining.

Amazing :metal

It sure is. So sophisticated, weird and "emotional" at the same time

I actually think I like this better than Woe.

I listened to it once, and I really liked it...just didn't quite have the time/remember to go back to it. Will have to remedy that.

Dream Unending - Song of Salvation

This album balances between epic melancholic doom and athmosperic black.
Right up my alley and might end up in my top 10 of the year.
Pretty sure some people over here will love it.

I listened to this earlier and great first impression. I've left it on a current playlist to revisit in the next week.

Where were you guys when I posted it a few days ago?  :p

Yep, it's good...I had enjoyed their debut, and after a couple of listens I'm not sure which one I prefer. The structure is a bit weird, I guess, with most of "meat" at the beginning and the end, but I like their "dreamy" doom sound.

Not sure why I don't listen to this one (&i) as much as her others, it's at the same level of quality.  Time to rectify that.

I think I mentioned this to you before...I was a big fan of her debut, and then I kinda forgot she existed  ;) I guess I need to add this to the long list...

It fell through the cracks when it came out. Listening to it now and I really like it, better late than never. Im curious who the band is on this one.

Derek Sherinian
Eric Singer

So many great tunes..

I just ordered the CD from Amazon for 5 bucks. Discovering new music for me is finding something I missed, like this. I just do not have much interest in new bands like I used to. On rare occasion I'll check out something new but I keep going back to the albums I already know and love.

Well today has been an eclectic day. I started this morning off watching an episode of 'What's in my bag?'. For those who don't know it's a youtube channel where famous bands/artists walk around a huge record store and then talk about the records they picked out. It's kinda cool and I've watched a few in the past. Today was death metal band Blood Incantation's turn.

I watched this and some records I knew, most I didn't. I decided to queue some of them up for todays listening. It's safe to say, after listening to what they picked out, Timewave Zero now makes perfect sense!

Here's a link to the video...

In amongst the Blood Incantation recommendations are some of my more obvious spins. Good day all around.

I wanted to plow through some releases I've been looking forward to and put off before I get swamped with roulette submissions.  Alter Bridge and Townsend albums tend not to pop out on first listen for me.  They seem solid enough, but I expect with how much time I'm committing myself to I might not be singing their praises until '23.  I like that The Interrupters seem to be leaning into their reggae influences a bit more than normal.  Avatarium is definitely going to be a contender for my year-end list.  They're one of many bands I've dug in the past couple years but haven't spent enough time with, and this certainly helps.

Glad to see someone else digging The Interrupters! I think going on tour with The Skints helped them lean into their reggae influences more  :metal

Third wave ska was all the rage when I was entering my teen years, and I like horns, so I kind of dug it.  Some of it hasn't aged incredibly well, but I still have fondness for some of it, and they're one of the better current bands doing it.  That era probably set me up to get into reggae and the smaller amount of skate punk I like.

I have pretty much the same experience and agree The Interrupters are one of the better current bands, alongside Get Dead, although they are more Skacore.

I don't listen as much as I used to but ska punk and skate punk will always be in my soul.

Another round of new albums.  I miss the old Silversun Pickups sound, when they reminded me of the Smashing Pumpkins with less obnoxious vocals.  Some good moments, but they're still treading water in their newer sound.

Weyes Blood has what I previously considered "the Lana Del Rey problem", before a few of her songs started connecting with me.  It's well-made, pleasant, beautiful music, and if I squint I can see how it's adjacent to other stuff I love, but it's not moving me right now.  And it doesn't have Lana's endearing quirky irreverence.  I swear, she has some of the softest F-bombs in recorded music history.  "Twin Flame" is probably the song that has the most chance of being a regular on my playlists though, we'll have to see.

I enjoy Minuit Machine's sort of "chill EBM" sound.  Definitely another one out of DTF's normal range though.

I've been having a renaissance with Blind Guardian in recent years.  They were one of the earlier power metal bands I listened to, but grew to not like Hansi's voice for quite some time.  I think I was partially annoyed because of him being in Demons & Wizards, at a point at which I was becoming a total Matt Barlow fanboy.  But now I've come back around on it in the last years.  Really solid album.  "Architects of Doom" is just pure awesome.  Hansi is cheating by having three of my favorite vocalists as part of his backing choir for this album though.
