Swap out Turnstile for Ethereal Shroud and I'd agree just based on first listens.
Can't say I've heard Ethereal Shroud. *sigh* I guess I'll add it to the neverending list. Turnstile is probably better though
Are you even into atmospheric black metal? If you are you'd probably enjoy it.
I kept hearing people talking about how novel that Turnstile album was, and maybe this is just my lack of familiarity with the styles it's pulling from speaking, but to me it just sounded like pretty normal punk rock.
Took me a while to respond to this but yea, I basically like a load of sub genres of black metal whilst not really actually liking much in the way of straight up black metal. Haven't got around to Ethereal Shroud yet, but it's coming up on one of my playlists. I did however, just finishing listening to this...
I'd say this was pretty atmospheric black metal!
As for Turnstile, I wouldn't say they were punk rock. They are a hardcore band but with GLOW ON they mixed in some like dream pop elements or something (I'm far from an expert on dream pop) and created hardcore dreamcore.
Dreamy hardcore.
Hareamcore.
Something. Anyway, it's a cool hardcore album that pushes the boundaries of hardcore.
