Those old Santana albums are outstanding, and really unique.  "Toussaint L'overture" on the next album is one of my favorite songs.  I even enjoy some of his maligned collaborations in the past few decades as well.

Yea, it is a nice album for sure. Now for something completely different...

Carcass is great.

Most of the punk I like is Swedish, but I'll give this a go.

To be honest Millencolin are the only Swedish punk band I know, but I frigging love them. I'll take any recommendations you got.

Brymir - Voices in the Sky

I mentioned this a few days ago...for some reason I keep going back to it...this album is a ton of fun  :) Melodic death metal from Finland with a definite epic/power metal attitude (those choruses!). Lots of sweet guitar leads too.

Nick, finally had a chance to give this a spin.

I really did not like the vocals, but some of the music, in the first half the album is really nice and epic sounding. That seemed to taper off in the second half though and kind of became a harshfest. I had it on at work, but that was my impression.

Gave the new Darkthrone a spin. Not really familiar with them but a guy at work mentioned them. This album felt way too slow in tempo for my tastes. There were a few bright spots, but it just felt so damn gloomy.

Because I let Spotify run on it lead me to this:

Warmoon Lord-Battlespells

I really enjoyed this 2021 album. I had it on at work so it was generally background while I input data, but it was really enjoyable. The vocals are kind of blackish and distant in the mix, but the music was generally excellent.

would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related

I've been working through the Kings Of Convenience discography, currently on Declaration of Dependance.

I love their simplistic songwriting and melodies, I hear a lot of Simon and Garfunkel influence in their writing but Kings connects with me in a way S&G never did.

That's exactly how I feel.  Most indie music leaves me cold, but they resonate with me.  One review I read of theirs a long time ago described them as so soft they "make Simon & Garfunkel sound like hard rockers", which I always found amusing.  Riot on an Empty Street and Declaration of Dependence are absolute top-tier albums for me.

I guess the harsh vocals are a bit Children of Bodom-esque...? Not my favorite, but they didn't bother me too much. And, like I said, for me they really nail the choruses on this one  :)

This was a bit of a blind-buy. Had listened to it before but didn’t remember a single note. Well now after 5 listens I can say it’s one of my favorite thrash metal albums! Absolutely killer riffs! And I even like the vocals!  :metal

Caedmon's Call - Caedmon's Call (2022 Re-Recording)

Interesting, though that seems really...unnecessary.  The original has a really nostalgic vibe for me, I have "Hope To Carry On" as part of my acoustic/electric light alt rock playlist along with a bunch of Goo Goo Dolls, Gin Blossoms, Sixpence None the Richer, The Tea Party, Shaded Red, Splender, etc.  Pretty unique and relaxing feel from that era.
