My wife came home to hear me listening, walked in and rolled her eyes (standard). I then proceeded to talk about how Pizza Death are my favourite band now. I mentioned them a few more times over the next hour or so. Think the band may be responsible for my wife leaving me.

I'm buying 7 Pizza Death shirts so I can where one every day.

Can't you just wash and dry the same shirt overnight?

He does! I once was sent Red Right Hand on a roulette and it bored me so much it put me off from listening to his work for years. But the rest of the album is so good while that song feels like ambient scooby doo music

I won't have that slander against Red Right Hand! 

But I have a personal connection I suppose because it appears in the Scream movies and I always had a fondness for it even before hearing the album in full. It has such a unique vibe though. If you don't like the vibe that's cool but he does that sort of spooky song about a murderer really well and he has a bunch of other songs in a similar vein.

Although the cover is quite ugly, this is actually really good music. Kind of mixes a lot of genres into a unique atmospheric sound, like post-rock, shoegaze, noise pop, and neo psychedelia. Really interesting stuff.

I've only heard one or two Mercury Rev albums (I'm pretty sure The Light in You was one of them), but I definitely enjoyed them. They were actually a band my Dad recommended to me.

Sonja - Loud Arriver

Trio from Pennsylvania, very intriguing mix of hard rock and dark/gothic. A bit in the vein of bands like Idle Hands/Unto Others, I guess, but the sound is a little less "metal". The mid-album one-two punch of Wanting Me Dead and Fuck, Then Die (uhm...) is fantastic, with a stronger gothic influence. Cool stuff.

This....was an interesting listen. It's like if Hole and Blondie had a baby.

Parius - The Signal Heard Throughout Space

Saw ariich mentioned this in the Friday releases thread...they made the leap from the sorta prog/tech death of their previous album (which was barely half an hour long) to full prog here (an hour-long concept!). Some remaining harsher vocals here and there, but it's mostly clean-sung. GREAT playing (the bass too!) and production. I don't love everything in here - I feel sometimes they go a little too "quirky-prog" for my taste - but I'm enjoying this. It's a long album and I've played it a few times already. The Signal and Arecibo are the songs that stood out the most for now...
