Couldn’t agree more! There are days when it’s my favorite Savatage album, believe it or not…

I believe it, its great! When it first came out I dismissed it without really giving it a fair shot.

Don't know Pallbearer, but dropping the needle on their last album, Oceans Of Grief is way mor cleaner and impactful. Definitely TAComended.

David Bowie - Hours…

I’m really surprised, this is generally considered a bad Bowie album but I actually liked it a lot on first listen.

Pallbearer is more on the epic/doom side of things (especially their first couple of albums) and, unless I'm misremembering, it's all clean vocals. Oceans of Grief's music is melancholic death-doom, with harsh vocals. Think Insomnium and a little bit of (very) early Amorphis. The guitar leads on this are gorgeous.

Ocean of Grief definitely seems up my alley.  I can't get Insomnium to click for me, but this is closer to the Swallow The Sun/Daylight Dies sort of stuff I love. 

There should be an Ocean tour.  Ocean of Grief, Oceans of Slumber, The Ocean.

Just discovered this today, and I ended up listening to the whole thing.



First listen, and this is a fantastic album. Sold as a progressive metal opera, and if anyone is bored with Avantasia, I'd suggest giving this a try. Heavier and more progressive.

Yep, they don't have the "melodeath" component of the Insomnium sound...so yes, I agree they have more of that desperate/melancholic sound of early Swallow the Sun and Daylight Dies.

I'd be down for that tour  :)

I started using this random album generator last year. It will randomly generate an album every day from one of those '1001 albums you must hear before you die'.

Here's a link to the site, and also my profile. You rank each album out of 5 as you go. Some of you might already do it, or at least find it interesting.

For the most part it is pretty predictable, and is heavily biased towards a lot of 60s/70s/80s. I'm pretty sure every Beatles album is in there  :lol

There are some metal gems in here, along with surprising albums like Scum by Napalm Death. Scum happens to be the lowest rated album on the list  :lol

I find most of the albums pretty middle of the road, but there are have been some nice surprises. I've found some nice 90s albums that passed me by, and I'm loving the Britpop releases more than anything else to be honest.

Anyway...

The album it's chucked my way this morning is Miles Davis - In a Silent Way.
