Andy McKee - Pulse

Andy's take on ambient music and it's not great, the sound design seems really off.

Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

How'd you like this record? I personally really enjoyed it. I've never heard of her until the "No Guitar Is Safe" podcast.

Also have you checked out Yasmin Williams?

I like it, but not as much as her first album, Rise.  She's pretty talented.  I only really got into her after she appeared on Bela Fleck's most recent album and tour.

And yeah, I know Yasmin Williams.  She's pretty awesome.

VAN CANTO - The Final Countdown and Master Of Puppets. All these year later I'm still not sure how I feel about these guys. I mean, its impressive yet goofy. I would love to see them live.  :metal :lol

I remember several years ago the first thing I heard from them was Battery. It was pretty great and hilarious at the same time :lol

twosuitsluke, Pestilence are a band that should've had more love. Excellent on every level. I think you will dig Spheres. Let me know, I'm curious what you think. Cheers!  :metal

Yea, I liked this. It's death metal but not that straightforward classic death metal. There's synths, jazzy elements, groovy basslines, atmospheric interludes but also still that classic death metal feel, especially in the Obituary-esque vocals.

I've gotten into Nocturnus the last year or so and they are kinda similar as they incorporate synths (but also have a sci fi side to them, which is also of great appeal).

I've just been reading up on the band as I had no clue about their history. Turns out I've heard three of their albums. Two are more recent (Exitivm and Doctrine) and the classic Consuming Impulse. Spheres is easily my favourite of the bunch, so much so I'm spinning it again straight after.

I'll give this a go as well as I've seen the album cover before but never gave them a go.

Crumbsuckers are crossover thrash hardcore. Their second album B.O.M.B. is more metal. Both excellent! Also, Pestilence, Testimony Of The Ancients is also very tasty. I really like all of their stuff and they have a new album ready to go.

Blackfield - Blackfield V

This album is awesome. I've been going through the Blackfield discography and each release was more disappointing than the previous, so much so that I almost didn't listen to this album. I'm glad I did, it's easily the best album in their catalog.

Muse - Will of the People

First Muse album I’ve listened to since The Resistance (which killed my interest in the band). Quite like it to be honest.

This is pretty good - I appreciated that they tried to do something a little different. Not everything works, but overall an enjoyable listen.

That Crumbsuckers was pretty good. I've been listening to a bit of Suicidal Tendencies this week so it fit in nicely.

I've also been listening to a fair bit of Carcass and Napalm Death this week. I have only just found out about Blackstar so spinning this for the first time now.

Blackstar are a band founded by Ken Owen and Jeff Walker, following the initial break up of Carcass. As far as I can tell they only released one album. It's a continuation of the Swansong era Carcass and is OK so far.
