How have I never heard this Thrice album before? This sounds more like Protest the Hero or something, but better.

Piah Mater - Memories of Inexistence

Just discovered these guys yesterday and they are basically an Oldpeth clone, with a bit of Enslaved thrown in for good measure. Nothing ground breaking but solid.

Agalloch -Ashes Against the Grain

Not much to say that hasn't already been said around here, great album.

You know, for some reason even though Opeth is probably my favorite or second favorite band, I haven't really turned the earth upside down looking for clones of them like I have for other bands like say, Nevermore.  Of ones I've heard, no one else does any of their older styles any justice, and the ones that are kind of close still just don't have the right vibe.  But I don't even think I've heard of this one, so I might have to at least give them a shot.

i liked piah mater's 2018 album but it was a far cry from the best opeth's given us, yeah
listened to the first one too but like, they aren't a band with a unique enough style to be gripping on their own ig

I don't actively look for a band that sounds like Oldpeth, because like Cyril said, no band can hit the highs Opeth hit.

Yea I just checked and 32 of these I listen to semi regularly, or have at least heard one album in full. Loads more that I've heard a song or two, or are aware they exist. Plenty I've never heard of though!
