Finally sitting down and listening to Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man + new single Patient Number 9.
Talk about not understanding your fan base.
Minus the random guest appearances, I believe Andrew Watt is doing all the writing and most of the instrumentation as a weekend project. Judging from the production and songwriting I am not convinced Mr. Watt has ever actually listened to an Ozzy record. It’s like a weird Gen Z interpretation of what someone *thinks* Ozzy should sound like based on a few episodes of the Osbourne’s.
I get that some record exec is telling him that a duet with Elton John and Post Malone will expose more people to Ozzy but Christ, we have two decades of hindsight telling us his best stuff was in the Blizzard era and that’s the vibe he should be going for. With Stranger Things, throwback/80s music is red hot right now. Certainly Ozzy/Sharon can put together a couple hundred grand to get Zakk Wylde and Jake E Lee to make a proper album for the fans. Otherwise, I don’t really know who these records are meant to appeal to.
End rant.
