No chance of this beeing represented when Porcupine Tree play live this autumn.

Quite enjoy it actually.... very Floydian (The Wall era gone instrumental)

Such a great album!

I hadn’t listened to it in over a decade. I forgot how good it is.

Inspired by the Glynn Morgan's appreciation in the Threshold thread...Mindfeed was his post-Threshold band, back when left after Psychedelicatessen.

Great singing on this one.

Speaking of Threshold, I would think most Threshold fans would dig this band..

Anyone checked out the album Born, by the band Birth? Excellent prog rock for fans of the classics of the genre.

Finally sitting down and listening to Ozzy Osbourne’s Ordinary Man + new single Patient Number 9.

Talk about not understanding your fan base.
Minus the random guest appearances, I believe Andrew Watt is doing all the writing and most of the instrumentation as a weekend project. Judging from the production and songwriting I am not convinced Mr. Watt has ever actually listened to an Ozzy record. It’s like a weird Gen Z interpretation of what someone *thinks* Ozzy should sound like based on a few episodes of the Osbourne’s.

I get that some record exec is telling him that a duet with Elton John and Post Malone will expose more people to Ozzy but Christ, we have two decades of hindsight telling us his best stuff was in the Blizzard era and that’s the vibe he should be going for. With Stranger Things, throwback/80s music is red hot right now. Certainly Ozzy/Sharon can put together a couple hundred grand to get Zakk Wylde and Jake E Lee to make a proper album for the fans. Otherwise, I don’t really know who these records are meant to appeal to.

End rant.

Squid - Bright Green Field

Really loving this Windmill Scene (this band, Black Country New Road and black midi). Some of the best new music.

Its like Ozzy singing for an entirely different band. I really try to get it, I just can't. If Zakk wrote the tunes it would be Ozzy again. I'm pretty sure Jake and Sharon will never do business again, sadly. But I feel you on this.

Still my second favorite album from last year.  Hard to find much else like it, especially tracks like "Reynisfjara" and "As I Drift On An Ocean Towards a Distant Shore", which unfortunately neither of which made it to their live in-studio set.

Steven Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing (And Other Stories)

Although I come back to Drive Home and the last track every once in a while, it's been years since I listened to the whole thing. Damn, I had forgotten how good this album was - it feels like the logical progression from Grace for Drowning.

I gave this a listen a few weeks ago. Not what I expected as they sound like they are fronted be someone straight out of a 00's emo band. I don't necessarily have a problem with that, it just didn't do it for me.

Yeah it won't make my best of 2022 list but I just gave it a few spins, it has some moments but that's about it.
