I'm guessing it's out this Friday? I'll probably wait until then. Their last album has grown on me quite a bit and I thought Leviathan sounded really promising. Just gonna give the other single, Cronus a spin now  :corn

Edit: Listened to Cronus, not sure about the vocals at the beginning but I'm here for the sax!

My listening for the day.

Surprisingly (on two counts), this is the first Kiss album I've ever listened to, and I didn't think it was terrible! Ever since I became aware how much of a tool Gene Simmons is I have not been interested in the band at all. I mean, the few songs I'd heard hadn't swayed me either. It's kinda surprising actually, as the first Kiss song I ever heard, to my knowledge, was God Gave Rock 'n Roll to You. It was on Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, and those two films were huge to me, and definitely influenced my tastes somewhat. As much as I loved the film that song didn't do it for me.

Anyway, Destroyer was pretty cheesy (in like a Meatloaf kinda way) but I didn't feel the urge to skip at any point, it was alright.

What did you think of it? I haven't had the time to go beyond one listen yet...on first pass it didn't engage me as much as their previous records, but I will certainly revisit...

Well, it was going to be hard to top Grave Image. I enjoyed it, but it's not Grave Image. I still really like it and I still love what they are doing.

I don't love every single track they put out (and some of the best ones aren't on an LP/EP), but the collection of ones I do make them one of if not my favorite discovery of the past year.  It was my album of the year last year, and it's still been in heavy rotation in this one.

Fantastic album.  I think I'm way overdue for a binge on their older material.  They've always been the type of band I get in the mood to hear a track or two from and the next thing I know I'm going through all their releases a couple times again.

Today's listening has obviously been mainly inspired by the release of a new (decent) In Flames song. I thought I'd go back through a few of their albums I'm not too familiar with.

Revisiting Battles and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. Not great but way better than Siren Charms and I, The Mask. Subterranean is classic In Flames so clearly leagues ahead.

As for the others, just where my playlists took me today.

Wolfking and I were just revisiting it a few weeks ago. For me, the combo Subterranean/Jester Race is absolutely peak-In Flames. That EP is as close to melodeath perfection as it gets.

I dunno, may favourite In Flames album is Clayman. That and Colony are peak In Flames to me personally. Subterranean and Jester Race are great though. It was only my second time listening to Subterranean. It has some serious At the Gates worship going on.



This is just some great, straight up stoner metal. Great new release
