I’ve never checked out Angel Dust. Maybe I’ll do that tonight.
Bleed was the song that got me hooked on them.
Enlighten the Darkness is by far my fav, but Bleed is easily their best song I'd say. Another good one is the excellent Freedom Awaits buried at the end of Human Bondage. But on a whole, Enlighten the Darkness is unbeatable.
Agree with all of this.
Tim - definitely DO check them out. I've never heard their 80s albums (they are supposed to be thrash-ier??), but everything they did since their late 90s comeback is really, really good. Bleed and Enlighten the Darkness above all, but Border of Reality (slightly more classic power, that one...and with a cover of Spotlight Kid to boot) and Of Human Bondage are not too shabby either.
I have always though of Bleed (the song) as a heavier, moar powah version of Savatage's Edge of Thorns (the song), with the piano and the crunchy guitars. Fantastic song.
Oh, and you should also try the album "Why?" by Mercury Tide - it's the band Angel Dust's singer Dirk Thurisch put together after AD started their "hiatus" (?). Anders Iwers on bass (of Cemetary, Dark Tranquillity, Tiamat etc. fame). The title-track is super - almost a cross between Power and Gothic Metal.
