Fairly basic metal. Vocals are ok too. Sounds more early 80ish than late 80’s.

Ok, not what I expected after the album I have.

Is that the one where they tried to go hair metal? That was shit.

Nah that’s Cold Lake.

Yep, they wanted to be weird on this one

I do find Into the Pandemonium a tad overrated, but put more in context it had some cool, innovative stuff going on. For what it's worth, some say it started the whole "avantgarde-metal" thing...I think it was influential, but at the end of the day I don't go back to it very often

Sounds like they were a totally different band to what they served up on Monotheist.

Liked it a lot on first listen. Probably more than the previous album.

Father John Misty - Fear Fun

Have you listened to his new one? If so, how is it? I just bought it without having heard anything on it but I’m a fan of him.

Bumping this for hefdaddy42 to see.

I remember not thinking all that much of the second album, but this one is excellent so far. Barlow is, well, Barlow. Can't go wrong there. The last track with Ripper is excellent as well. 11 1/ 2 minutes of the two of them trading off.

Exactly. But it's not just his playing. His vocals fucking drip with emotion. I spun Wild Frontier this week in my 1987 run and his vocal on Johnny Boy gave me goosebumps.

I wish that album had better production.  It seems to have volume issues in some songs, it's weird.

You're right though, as incredible as his playing was, his vocals seem to get overlooked but what a voice he had.  He's one of the only guys that makes me believe and feel the blues.  His singing is a big part of that.

Maggy Luyten's new band. They surprise dropped their debut album this week. I'm a sucker for anything Maggy. If you are familiar with her, this is no surprise. A good, heavy, rocking album. Nothing special, just well done and with Maggy flexing her chops. She does it all, clean voice, gravelly voice, near-growl voice that I first heard her do in her short time with Nightmare.

I'll be honest, I know nothing of Moore except that TAC talks about him about as much as he does Schenker. I was reading his Wikipedia page and what stopped me cold was his signature Les Paul. Good lord, what a thing of beauty. I always have said I would love to buy a Les Paul strictly as art to hang on my wall because they are so gorgeous. This one would qualify.

He made that thing sound as good as it looks too.   :hefdaddy

That blues live album is a perfect place to start if you are into blues.  If you want just heavier rock stuff, I've found the compilation, Back on the Streets - The Rock Collection is a good one, or just get this;

I'm pretty sure this was the first Cathedral album I ever owned. It nearly put off the band completely  :lol  it's my least favourite, out of the albums I've heard. Not sure what it is about it but very little clicked.

It wouldn't be the best place to start with them. Not their best, but also not bad.  :P

Yeah, off the top of my head Thunder Rising (awesome tune) suddenly drops in volume from the songs before it. It’s very of it’s time too, lots of programming.
That is a great live album though. Saw that tour, and a couple before, and he was so good. He dripped sweat on me he first time - unfortunately none of his talent was absorbed 😁😁

Phew, TAC threatened to unleash the death metal so I chewed my own arm off to escape… 😁😁

Envy Of None - s/t. Not my usual listening but it was enjoyable.

Mute Gods - Do Nothing till You Hear From Me

Death Angel - the Ultra-Violence

Paul Gilbert - Flying Dog

Cool, thank you. I'll check these out.

More importantly, the 2nd song I ever got in a Roulette, and still the best (she's the brunette in this video).

Pretty sure that Christophe Godin (guest guitar solo in this video) is also the co-Founder of The Prize.

As for Beautiful Sin - Take Me Home

She's done a lot of different guest and touring spots too.
