You may have mentioned, but Tim, is the physical cd's the format you're listening to music at work?

Wonderful albums there.  Abigail, so good.

A bit of German power metal and a bit of US metal. Punching the Sky is such a good album.

That's really the only AS album I've really taken too.  Come back to it often enough, it's excellent.  Great classic Edguy too.

The first Edguy album I bought was Burning Down The Opera. I loved Babylon, so Theater Of Salvation would be the first Edguy studio album I bought, but other than Babylon, I remember being really disappointed in it. Been years since I have heard it.

Punching The Sky is indeed excellent, but I am a huge Armored Saint fan, and it's middle of the pack for me...mind you, it's a damn good pack. They're practically a Top 10 band for me.

In fact, I'll be posting them tomorrow as I finish up my 1987 listening.

How about a quick AS ranking?  :) I'd have to think about it, since they are not a band I have a deep knowledge of. I know Symbol of Salvation is likely the top album for me. Love March of the Saint and Raising Fear. Never gotten around to checking out Delirious Nomad and Revelation. I find La Raza and Win Hands Down super-solid, but Punching the Sky is my favorite of the last three.

I can understand being disappointed with that album after hearing Babylon.  It's a bit tame compared to that song.

I still need to check that AS album you posted in here last week.

Tersivel - To The Orphic Void

Basically a more symphonic version of Gojira  ;D It's a pretty cool record, actually. Opener gives a good representation of the sound. Favorite songs in the middle (Moving On and The Ferryman, both with quite beautiful and epic endings). The last song is maybe a little longer than it needs to be, but kinda cool too.

How about a quick AS ranking?  :)

Raising Fear/Symbol
March
Nomad
Win Hands Down
Revelation
Punching The Sky
La Raza

I still need to check that AS album you posted in here last week.

Revelation

That was the first "reunion" album. I didn't take to it right away, but it has aged great. I actually thought of you while it was kicking my ass last week. Great riffage, great solos.

Armored Saint is a LIVE band. Thise first three albums, especially March and Nomad, suffer the tracks in the studio.

From Nomad, Nervous Man was such a great live song.
The opening chord just hangs there....and then BAM!

Aftermath is my second favorite Armored Saint track after Book Of Blood.

Fairly basic metal. Vocals are ok too. Sounds more early 80ish than late 80’s.

This album just came out today.  It's really good.  Collaborations with so many excellent musicians, from all kinds of genres.

For me, it was Zeit as well today (obviously, and it's constantly good as ever IMHO), along with Stan Getz: Apasionado, Steve Lukather: Candyman and Mike Rutherford: Smallcreep's Day. All of them brilliant IMHO

Have you listened to his new one? If so, how is it? I just bought it without having heard anything on it but I’m a fan of him.

What a great year.

So this was my thought today too. For me, I feel like 1988 had higher highs, but 1987 was surprisingly consistently good.

Fairly basic metal. Vocals are ok too. Sounds more early 80ish than late 80’s.

Ok, not what I expected after the album I have.

Is that the one where they tried to go hair metal? That was shit.
