Today has been a fantastic release day, with Converge/Chelsea Wolfe, Swallow the Sun, Obscura, Khemmis, Dream Unending, The Lurking Fear, and Exodus all being great to good. A few others as well I haven't gotten to yet.
Converge/Chelsea Wolfe and Swallow the Sun are great. Still need to listen to Obscura.
The new Me and That Man is also pretty good, it's a Nergal (Behemoth) sideproject with a mix of dark country, blues and americana. Great all star cast to support him including Myrkur, Devin Towsend, Alyssa White-Gluz, Gary Holt.
Digging the new Converge/Chelsea Wolfe. Not gotten around to Swallow the Sun or Obscura yet. I came here to post about the new Me and That Man though. I liked the first two albums but with this new one Nergal seems to really be hitting his stride. I really like it and can see it cracking my top 20 of the year. The guest vocalists are stellar this time around. On top of the ones you mentioned, we also have David Vincent (Morbid Angel), Mary Goore (which is actually Tobias Forge), Blaze Bailey, Mantas (Venom) and Hank Von Hell (Turbonegro).
Hank Von Hell sings on the first track, Black Hearse Cadillac. Spookily Hank Von Hell was reported dead on Friday, the same day this album was released. It starts with the following lyrics:
Listen to my story, about the day I died
About the day I died
How I went to hell 'n came back
And why I'm still alive
Yeah, I'm alive to tell
I've seen heaven 'n hell
But I always keep an ace up my sleeve
So I could leave before I fell
