I'm obviously not the guy you're querying, but is Shade Crown kind of like FtM?  I really love that band.  I need to check out Shade Crown as well it sounds like.

Shadecrown definitely do NOT sound like Fair to Midland  :) But I love FtM too...

I listened to Shadecrown yesterday.  Most of it has that sort of Insomnium-sounding melancholic, doomy melodeath vibe.  I've always been much more into the Swedish melodeath styles, so the more Finnish bands generally aren't my favorites, with a few exceptions like Amorphis and Noumena.  But it picked up some at the end, the last two tracks seemed the best on the album to me.  But if you like Omnium Gatherum, Be'lakor (Australian, but sound more Finnish to me) and such you're probably going to love it.

Agreed - both Fables...and Arrows and Anchors are fantastic. Do you know why they just disappeared?

I've forgotten the specifics over the years but I believe they just had a falling out. If I remember right the drummer left at some point while taking a few shots at the remaining members over the bands online domain page.

Whatever the case it's a real shame. Fables and Arrows were a pair of really amazing albums and the band just jelled so well together. Darroh is one of my favorite vocalists of all time and single handily got me interested in more growl like vocals.

Heh, that's basically my early 00s mix.  Whiteheart and Petra especially are pretty fantastic hard rock/AOR if you can get past the at times preachy lyrics.
