Mastodon's album, you mean? I always loved them. I liked, but didn't love, their last two records...but this one, for me, is the best thing they've done since Crack the Skye (which is still my favorite).

Seems they aren't for you mate. I feel that to really appreciate this album you have to have followed the band for a while if that makes sense. I don't think you can understand what they've done here without having followed them through a lot of their career.

I'm not so sure about that. I don't know if I count, because I did start listening to Mastodon at least a decade and a half ago, and have given cursory listens to most of their albums, but I've never really liked them until now. I appreciated Dailor's drumming in particular, and the others are talented as well, but other than the odd song here or there their music mostly left me cold and I never listened to much of any of it enough to be that familiar with it other than in the broadest strokes. But their latest hit me in a way that nothing else from them has, it kind of floored me. I'll see on repeat listens if it was a fluke, but it was a bit surreal.

Yeah the drumming is amazing, as is the bassist. But it seems the guitars, other than the solos are just quite there, or just quite not there. And the vocals...they blow.

Brilliant!!! Another Perfect Day is another classic but this and Iron Fist are my favorites..
