Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Still stuck on new DT. Might be on the mood for quite awhile.

This is one I enjoyed last year. The Thin Lizzy influence looms large, but the songs are very good.

Speaking of easy on the ears, the Dead Lord album inspired me to revisit this one from Night - also retro-sounding, also from Sweden and also from last year. You might know it already. Really cool listen, where Blue Oyster Cult are probably the most noticeable influence - check out the killer BOC-meets-Dire Straits combo in "Crimson Past", and "Lost in a Dream" too. Great opener ("Shadow Gold") and closer ("Under the Moonlight Sky") but, really, the whole thing is a fun ride.

Checking it out now. Sounds really cool. Thought I was listening to Animate there for a second.

Great tunes here for sure.

Another band I like in this vain is Horisont, also of Sweden. Totally has that 70's vibe.

Also, speaking of throwback vibes, I highly recommend Seven Sisters, a turn of the decade (70's/80's) English styled heavy metal.

Def Leppard - The Early Years

There doesn't appear to be a thread for Def Leppard, which is a shame.

I listened to On Through The Night yesterday, and the live show from Oxford, 1980 yesterday and this morning (most of it) and I was surprised how good the music was.  There was a lot of tasty guitar playing on that first album.   The solos in particular were interesting and more than just scalar widdly-widdlying.   I'd be really curious as to who played what on those songs.

Kip Winger - Songs from the Ocean Floor

Haven’t listened to the CD of this in a while. The mastering on the streaming versions seems to have let this one down (could have been an issue with the box set reissue). The original CD sounds fantastic.

A really under rated Brit pop album from 1996 called Free Peace Sweet by a band called Dodgy.

Imagine if Oasis were influenced by The Who and not The Beatles / Stones . You're almost there.

This song in particular is so good
