I have been getting into more just straight up thrash and groove the past while. Been getting into The Backbreaker by The Showdown.

New album from Seven Sisters. Really f'n good.

I called their 2016 debut a mix between Def Leppard's and Iron Maiden's debut. This is their 3rd album, and still harkens back to that era.

Destiny Potato - LUN

It's sort of like if Addicted-era Devin Townsend made a djentier album.  David is one of the most inventive guitarists in the scene, and Aleksandra is so versatile.  "Indifferent" is infectious, "House of Lies" is poignant, and "Take a Picture" is a real powerhouse.

Did anyone besides me listen to the Sordid Pink self-titled, the follow-up that was released under a different name last year? :lol It's a decent album but waaay more pop-focused and definitely not as much of a standout.

I enjoy this quite a bit anyway, but it sucks when you listen to an old album that inspired a lot of bands/artists when you heard the bands/artists that it inspired before hearing it because everything on the album sounds so familiar and therefore a lot less enjoyable.

I must confess that I've still never heard a full Motorhead album, just the odd song here and there.  They're one of those iconic bands that keeps falling in the cracks.  I'll have to rectify that at some point.  I heard Drain STH's cover of "Ace of Spades" long before the original.  Still a very cool rendition.

Yep.  I liked it a lot, though not as much as the debut.  To be honest I haven't fully digested it yet, whereas I've listened to LUN dozens and dozens of times, not to mention David's solo work or Aleksandra's Djelmash project.  I think it's going to be a grower though, I already really enjoyed "Drive", "Our Home", and "Freak" in particular.  It would have been cool if he'd been able to keep the other Aleksandra as well for that dual vocal dynamic.  I was just listening to the "Potato Salad" medley video he has up again with both of them recently and noting how sublime it still is, including the TesseracT and LaBrie selections.  Oh well, Radosavljevic's Above The Earth band is fun as well.

Freak is one of the better songs for sure. I like that song, the few metal cuts, and I Told You is a beautiful breather.

Wasn't there some drama involving the "other Aleksandra" forever ago? I only discovered DMM in 2015 so whatever that was was way before my time and it's pretty hard to find information about any of these people. :lol

She and David were dating for awhile and broke up.  He and Djelmas have been friends since childhood, so they kept working together.  Might be more to it, but I didn't discover his stuff until about '15 myself, and I don't really keep up with the metal tabloids, heh.

I know Raise Your Fist And Yell gets all the attention, but Constrictor is fantastic. One of the best tours I've ever seen. Alice's Metal band was on point. Ken Mary fucking killed it on that tour.

If I were to rank them, I'd go..

Hey Stoopid
Raise Your Fist And Yell
Constrictor
Trash

There's something about Trash that hasn't aged well. It's probably the overtly sexual lyrics, which were a staple of the hair metal thing that he was going for on that album.

Definitely.  I will say for me that The Grand Illusion is their best album. And one of my very favorites. But, they have a lot more albums that are awesome, and worth listening to.

Hey Stoopid is awesome. I don't know how to describe it. It sounds a lot cleaner than Trash.

That tour was awesome. Great stage show! Great band!

Vinnie Moore
Stef Burns
Greg Smith
Eric Singer
Derek Sherinian

His current touring band is:

Ryan Roxie-g
Nita Strauss-g
Tommy Henrikson-g
Chuck Garric-b
Glen Sobel-d

They've been together for years and are tight as hell. He hasn't used them to record his last couple of albums though.

I have a special fondness for Trash - it was one of my first "hard rock" albums bought in real time (on cassette, no less!). Poison, Spark in the Dark, House of Fire, Bed of Nails, Hell is Living Without You...so good.

I do agree it hasn't aged super-well, and some of the songs weren't great to start with. But it will always hold a special place. Hey Stoopid is arguably a superior record, and I like it very much - I just didn't connect with it the same way.
