The new Voivod didn't blow me away, but I very much enjoyed it. Nothing groundbreaking for them, but I love how they manage to be catchy in their typical weirdness.
I hadn't heard Grand Magus' The Hunt yet (kinda lost track of them a few years back), and I'm glad I checked it out. Not quite as epic as their best records (for me, Monument, Wolf's Return and Iron Will), but good stuff. The production is a little lighter, but somehow it suits the songs. I'll have to try their most recent ones too...
Silver Talon was a great one from last year...influenced by Nevermore, but with a larger dose of classic US metal.
..and Sorcerer's album...man, this is SO good. Candlemass riffage mixed with Tony Martin-era Sabbath. The vocals are out of this world, the guitar leads are phenomenal, and pretty much every chorus is a huge winner. Top moment among many highlights - the ending of Abandoned By the Gods. Goosebumps.
