Black Mass - Feast at the Forbidden Tree

Fast and raw thrash metal in the vein of very early Slayer and whereabouts. Vocals are perhaps a little more extreme than the usual but still within the confines of the genre. The production sounds just right for this type of album - and the bass actually pops and rumbles nicely underneath. The mode is for the most part full-speed ahead (Dead to the World's opening sounds like a sped-up Motorhead riff, and songs like Nothing is Sacred and Betrayal really push on the gas pedal), but there's some interesting variations on the theme - among others, A Path Beyond has a pretty cool break, and the band also decided to become Mercyful Fate for one song (They Speak in Tongues). Also kind of funny they have an intro called "Intro"

Anyway, I generally like my thrash not quite this raw, but the album sure was entertaining and with a pretty cool attitude.

Added to my 2021 playlist  :tup

God, this is still epic as shit after all these years!

All of the albums I ordered from The Sword arrived today. Man, these guys just bring the riffs.

beul ni teh efac = Lube In The Face / That has to be wrong.  :lol / EDIT: Oh, it's Blue! I'm an idiot.
Pardon the interruption, but I just had to run in and celebrate the majesty of Lube in the Face as highest moment in roulette history

Do you like that Purple album?   I really do, except that it's one of the few records where the lyrics REALLY bug me.  'Breakfast In Bed"?  WTF.

Well since you’re a Sufjan Stevens fan you should definitely check it out. It’s like a happy Carrie & Lowell. It’s also currently the third highest rated album of the year on RYM.

Here’s one of my favorite songs from it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EAEcqehEYg

I don’t mind S&M (😳😳😳) but it’s more a Rainbow album than a DP album. Geez, that’s a lot of sexual innuendo in the abbreviations for one sentence.

The Gary Moore is probably my least favourite of that batch. I was really disappointed in it.

@ Stads...It was either that or Now What.  That album is ok. Not a fave or anything. Kind of like Immortal. You'd probably have to be a Blackmore fan to really enjoy it.

@Lowdz...After The War was such a huge improvement over the disappointing Run For Cover and Wild Frontier. ATW actually ROCKS!

Yes you are right. But when RFC came out, I was quite disappointed. I loved the two Lynott tunes. But I was not happy that Gary had Glenn Hughes singing on the album, even though he's great on All Messed up, which is a great tune.

I think it introduced some of the new technology..electronic effects, only to be used even more on Wild Frontier. I know every album has a dud here and there, but as entire albums, I was disappointed in both. When ATW came out, I was ecstatic.

Those are my memories. Now, I am way more comfortable, even LOVE, both albums.

Yeah, ATW is not in the same league as RFC and WF. Led Clones disqualifies it immediately for being shit. Seriously, it’s not a terrible album, just a disappointment at the time. There is some good stuff on it.

Jag Panzer - the Scourge of Light, the Deviant Chord

Joey Tafolla - Infra Blue

Matthew Mills - Neoclassical Spirit

Led Clones might be the worst song in the Gary Moore catalog.
