Good lord, I wish they had a shorter name. Interesting mix, but some cool riffs.
Let's go with a P for Deadeye has premature alphabetejaculation.

What started as a needle drop ended up being a full listen...

Some quality heavy metal. Reminds me of Iced Earth. Not the greatest metal album of all time, but I enjoyed it.

First Amorphis album I've heard. I still regret not having them as part of my last roulette. I really enjoyed this. I feel like it ran out of steam a little towards the end.

I've been REALLY enjoying Halo. There is a bit of an auto-pilot risk with Amorphis, in that they settled on a relatively comfortable path...but they've been doing this for over 30 years, so that's ok, I think. And they deliver quality music so consistently. This one is a bit more stripped down compared to Queen of Time (which had a significant amount of orchestration), but even so it's lush, rich and beautifully put together.

Is this really your first Amorphis? You should definitely explore more. The recent stuff is very good, but do yourself a favor and give Tales for the Thousand Lakes a listen - that's their second album (1994) and it's a classic. It can be reasonably labelled death-doom, but it's very unique. And then the album after that - Elegy (1996). Quite different, with a new singer doing "cleans" next to the harshies, but absolutely wonderful as well.

As for the Tomi Joutsen era (i.e. the current singer) - as I said, it's been incredibly consistent. I would go chronologically, starting with Eclipse (2006)

I will check out Halo too. The only Amorphis album I have is Tuonela, and it never inspired me to check out anything else by them.

I've only heard bits of Skyforger, and I really enjoyed the song Sampo. Maybe I'll check out some more one day.

Right now I'm listening to the Far Skies Deep Time EP by Big Big Train (yes, my BBT deep dive continues :P ).
Zydar is my new hero.  I just laughed so hard I nearly shat.

A Classic Metal Saturday night!

I had a craving for this, F&J's 4th album. A sort of bridge between the thrash days and the 90's. I was a bit skeptical when this came out, but it has aged amazingly. There is some seriously bad ass rhythm guitars on this album.

Not my fave classic Accept album, but again, I had a craving for it. Wolf Hoffman's tone is unmistakable. But I have to say that I'm a huge fan of Stefan Kaufman's drumming, so groovy.

The 2nd of the two Rhett Forester albums. This has much better material than Restless Breed. If only it had Restless Breed's production.

While I love me some Michael Kiske, Walls is such a classic album. My favorite part of the Pumpkins United show was easily Kai's mini concert. These songs translated so well in that setting. A testament to their quality.

When I did my Top 50 albums years ago, this came in at #35. I love this album. If I did a Top 50 songs, In My Darkest Hour would rank even higher than that.

Jeff Scott Soto rules this album. It's an all time Top 10 Vocal performance on ANY album. I cannot believe he's the same guy that turned in those lame vocals for Sons Of Apollo. Oh, and Yngwie is pretty good too!

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There

I've somehow gone up to now not having heard any of the singles, so I'm real excited to just dive into this.

Have you listened to it? I’m totally in love with it right now.

I can understand the appeal but I really can’t get into the vocalist.

Concorde is a really beautiful song though.

You made me go back to this one. It's a pretty cool album, in the line of those early 90s records from thrash bands slowing things down a bit, but still with plenty of energy and punch. Sounds great.

Not my fave classic Accept album, but again, I had a craving for it. Wolf Hoffman's tone is unmistakable. But I have to say that I'm a huge fan of Stefan Kaufman's drumming, so groovy.

Agree with everything. I typically reach for Breaker or Restless and Wild for classic Accept, but this is good stuff too.

While I love me some Michael Kiske, Walls is such a classic album. My favorite part of the Pumpkins United show was easily Kai's mini concert. These songs translated so well in that setting. A testament to their quality.

WoJ was actually the first Helloween I heard, and at first I didn't love it - more "raw" than I was expecting, between the vocals and the overall sound. Now I think it's great - I actually like the songs from the EP even better (which I believe are always packaged with the album now)

When I did my Top 50 albums years ago, this came in at #35. I love this album. If I did a Top 50 songs, In My Darkest Hour would rank even higher than that.

Never quite got the love for this one. I've seen it very high in many Megadeth's fan lists - with my friends back in the day too. In My Darkest Hour is a fantastic song, but the album feels all over the place (not in a good way). I guess not surprising given where Mustaine (and the rest of the gang) was at the time, but still  I like Peace Sells way, way more...

Jeff Scott Soto rules this album. It's an all time Top 10 Vocal performance on ANY album. I cannot believe he's the same guy that turned in those lame vocals for Sons Of Apollo. Oh, and Yngwie is pretty good too!

Yes, indeed! I'm not even a huge Yngwie fan, but the songs rip on this one! The solos AND the riffs are great and, yes, JSS kills it.

yeah i tried their last one a few times and the vocals just aren't for me at all, not even bothering with this new one for the same reason
