Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

Continuing on with going through the DT Live eras,...

I actually went to this Providence show. So thankful there's a recording of it. As much as I love the classic version of The Killing Hand, this new version is excellent. The embellishments really work and feel natural. The Ytsejam release is outstanding as well. It's a release like this that really made Dream Theater special.

What are your favorite albums? For me, the sweet spot is probably Natural Born Chaos - Figure Number Five - Stabbing the Drama. I am very fond of The Chainheart Machine, although that was practically a different band. The songwriting on those three - so so good. Catchy and heavy just in the right doses. I like the more recent albums too (I am not super familiar with Verkligheten though) - I just don't find them quite as memorable. It might well be I haven't spent as much time with them as the others...

Pretty good US power metal from last year. Great riffs throughout, at times spilling over (melodic) thrash territory...an enjoyable ride!

I discovered them with Natural Born Chaos, so NBC/FNF/Stabbing are my favorites.  I also love The Living Infinite and The Ride Majestic.  I don't find myself going back to Chainheart and Predator as much as I used to - you're right, those albums are definitely a different style.

Top 3 would probably be Chainheart, Ride Majestic and probably FNF.  Although, I'd probably sub FNF for A Whisp of the Atlantic the way it's going these days.  That EP is incredible.

You could make a case for most of their albums being in a top 3 discussion IMO.

Whenever I see AB discussed, I always feel like I'm the only one who thinks their first album is the best.

I love One Day Remains. I might not consider it their best, but I 100% agree it's up there.

Been listening to this most of the afternoon

Spiritbox - Eternal Blue

If I had listened to this on release, it would have shaken up my top 20 albums list from 2021.
