Hef, I’m curious, where do you discover new music? You post such an eclectic mix of stuff that you listen to. I’m just wondering how where you find out about new releases?
It depends. I certainly look at music journalism from places like NPR, Paste, and Pitchfork for their critics' top new releases each week. I also check out other places like ProgArchives, and really whatever else I can soak up.
And this place, of course.
Now, I don't always like everything I listen to. But it's usually fun. In fact, I occasionally have more fun listening to something that doesn't agree with me, because I try to give it a fair shot and appreciate what I can, even if I know I will never listen to it again. I recently listened to the new album by Lingua Ignota (well, I didn't make it through the whole album), and even though I hated it and will never, ever listen to it again, the experience of listening to it is something that I treasure. Even though it was excruciating lol
