That is a fine list.  Big fan of that Sabbath record (the only Martin record with Geezer on it; I saw that tour and it SLAYED), and the Billy Joel is a top album all-time (and my first "proper" album).  "Slow down, you crazy child..."

Whitesnake - Unzipped Box Set

Say what you want about Coverdale; the lyrics can be laughable, some of the heavier stuff is bombastic in a way that borders on comical, but at the end of the day, when it's just a microphone and an acoustic guitar, that man can SING.   His voice is like velvet.

100% agree on Cross Purposes. As I've written elsewhere on DTF, I think it's a well produced album, with great performances (Iommi-Butler!). There's the more "metal" Sabbath (typical of Martin's albums), there's doomy stuff (Virtual Death, Evil Eye)...and there are songs where both dimensions coexist (Immaculate Deception). The more modern-sounding songs (modern as in "early Nineties"), like Psychophobia, sound cool too.

It was also pimped by outlets like Paste and Pitchfork, which is where I heard about it.

It's well done, but not quite my cup of tea.

So, continuing with my Dream Theater live era listens, this week I am concentrating on the Awake tour.

The Providence and Boston shows are the first two nights of the tour. These recordings are my personal recordings. Nick remastered both and the GDT guys remastered the Berklee show.

The coolest thing about them is that I am relistening to conversations I had during the show. Watching home videos is one thing, but these are really "fly in the wall" eavesdroppings. I went to the Providence show with a concert buddy of mine. He was a childhood friend that I had literally known since I was ten. I was 26 at these shows. For the Boston show, I went with my first wife, so yeah...

They played Innocence Faded for the first 5 shows and The Ones Who Helped To set The Sun for the first 8 shows.

James fucking KILLED on this leg. AMAZING!

Last night I watched a couple of other shows..

San Francisco

Pittsburgh
would have thought the same thing but seeing the OP was TAC i immediately thought Maiden or DT related
Winger Theater Forums........or WTF.  ;D
TAC got a higher score than me in the electronic round? Honestly, can I just drop out now? :lol

Wow, I don't think I knew that about The Ones Who Helped to Set the Sun being played early on the Awake tour. Our show was early November (IIRC), so we must have just missed it.

Out of all the shows pictured which one is best in both quality and performance?

I'd say the Toronto probably sounds the best all the way around. The Baltimore is pretty clear, but a bit loud/trebly.

The Providence and Boston are both pretty equal and would put them between the Toronto and Baltimore shows.

Performance wise, they are all consistent.

The Berklee show was rowdy as hell. They reserved the first half of the floor for students, and the general public got the second half of the floor. I saw Michael Schenker there a couple of years ago, and I did not remember the room being so small.

I meant to post this yesterday. I hit a few more today that I'll post tomorrow.

Nice setlist! How does James handle the really high yet gritty part (ala Sebastian Bach) in Innocence Faded?

Not bad, a little shaky but he hits all the notes. Separate note, When I first got the Atco demos I got used to the way James sang Take The Time "If there's a pensive fear, a wasted year a man must learn to cope..." doubled. The album version took getting used to for me.

The Awake tour was the first time I saw DT live. I was in full blown fanboy mode then

It was March 7, 1995 in Milan, and I was 18  :omg: Went with my older brother, who wasn't (isn't) really a fan, but was nice enough to come along. Great memories.

When they opened with Pull Me Under the crowd was singing SO loud you could barely hear JLB. We got no The Ones Who Helped to Set the Sun nor Innocence Faded. They did play Perfect Strangers.

Fates Warning were fantastic too as openers.

I thought of starting a thread on the DT side for this, but I wasn't sure I wanted to commit to running a Listening Party. Obviously, not everyone has bootlegs, so it could've been more of a Live Era or Touring Cycle discussion.

Yeah, I needed a reason to run through these for sure, and I'm happy I did.
