Honestly, if I had access to a time machine, I wouldn't use it.

Never seen a time travel story go smoothly.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home wants a word with you.
Double dumbass on you!

You're right, I should have said "Never seen a good time travel story go smoothly."
Hef is right on all things. Except for when I disagree with him. In which case he's probably still right.

So many good ideas already....tough to say one that hasn't been mentioned.

Historical:
  - Be present at Christ's Sermon on the Mount, Crucifiction AND following weeks.
  - Grassy Knoll / JFK Assassination is a must
  - Roswell....just to see what the fuss was about
  - WWII....so many places and events to choose from.

There could be a list of 100 where and when's historically to want to be at. Picking a time like the 1820's in Boston or NY to try and live/work in for a bit would be neat as well. Although I'm pretty sure I'd miss AC too much.

I think the ideas here of meeting/speaking to your grandparents and/or parents when they were teens is interesting. It'd be cool to hop back a few generations and see/speak to great great great grandparents as well.

Maybe a boring answer but the Marty McFly approach of going into the future to check up sports results and then go back to bet on them is probably something I'd do.  :lol

Whether or not you believe in Jesus's divinity, it is a near universally accepted fact among historians that he did exist and was crucified.

Good point!  The rules against changing the past don't prohibit that.

Honestly,  I'd travel back in time to meet my grandfather who I'm named after.

My grandfather passed away from a heart attack 3 weeks before my parents got married.

- I'd love to see the splendor of the Roman empire at its peak

I am curious about this as well. While there were certainly opulence, somebody built all that shit, and it wasn't union laborers working 8 hour shifts following OSHA guidelines with a mandatory lunch break. And no activists to proclaim income inequality.

Sure there were socialists activists... They usually ended up nailed to crosses if I remember correctly...

Watching my father in his prime playing in his symphony orchestra. He retired when I was 7 so I have no real memory of him in concert playing professionally other than some crappy video tapes. His prime was probably in the 60s and 70s though and that was before I was born. So if I could travel back in time I would love to see him in action.

I would go back to february 28th, 1986, to the street corner in Stockholm where swedish prime minister Olof Palme was murdered. People are still trying to make sense of that murder 35 years later, and there are so many theories about what happened.

Assuming I couldn’t intervene and change anything, I’d just want to see who was actually there in minutes leading up to it (if you believe all the witness testimonies, it would have been quite a crowd…), what REALLY happened second for second, which way did the killer actually run after the deed, etc.

It would be a relief to finally know the truth about a few of these circumstances, because it’s become one of those things that seems like it's just out of reach. If only one more person came forward, of if just one more piece of evidence was found…

A very swedish take on it, I know. There are a bunch of other things and events I’d like to know about, too, but that’s the first one that comes to mind.
