Woot.  Great comics series.  I hope the show does it justice.

Looks interesting. I'm always down for a post apocalyptic show.

Just watched the first ep. Really liked it.

I read a couple of volumes of the comics about 10 years ago. Don't remember much about it, tho.

I'm liking it, although there's been a fair amount of criticism.

I think this past week's episode finally gets more into the heart of the story, premise, etc with Yorick and 355 out and about.

I've just watched the latest episode. It's ok. There are some interesting dynamics and good performances throughout.

But there's no tension or emotional pull at all. On the other side, it hasn't done anything that has turned me off it yet. I'm starting to feel bored by it.

So I jammed through 5 episodes of this last night. Really digging it. It's a lot different than I thought it would be which is a good thing.

FX/Hulu not picking up second season. It’s being shipped around now. I’ve liked what I’ve seen but I can see how it may be struggling.

yeah i just saw that on Eliza Clark and Brian K Vaughan's Instagram accounts a bit ago.

I'm unsure what the odds it will get picked up by another network. I wonder if FX / HULU expected it to do better, but it also seemed to get a bit lost in the mix of some other new/returning shows (Squid Game, The Boys, Succession).

I also wonder if some of the audience jumped ship after a couple of episodes, whereas some others started watching after the premiere date.

I dunno, although Clark and BKV believe it will get picked up, and there has been interest in Hollywood for ages about it, I wonder if someone at 1 of the other networks is enough of a fan to not worry about a lack of ratings/streams at this point.

Or maybe it has done better since the premiere date? I actually am enjoying it more now, although I'm still bugged by the emphasis on what they are doing in Washington, but the actual Primary story of Yorick, 355 and Doctor Mann I think is working quite well.

bump.

not specifically about Y: The Last Man, but Brian K. Vaughan.

PAPER GIRLS

This is being adapted as a live action series by Amazon Prime, and the Series premiere is on July 29th.

I worry it may get promoted and pigeon-holed as a Stranger Things ripoff, when in fact it predates ST and actually is a lot different than it is similar to Stranger Things. But so be it. Hopefully it will find more success than Y: The Last Man did, sadly.

Brian K Vaughan also has "The Great Machine" coming, which is a feature film in the works that is an adaptation to his story "Ex Machina," and is expected to star Oscar Isaac. Ironically, it is completely unrelated to the A24 film "Ex Machina" which Oscar Isaac was also in.

Nice. I didn't dig the Y show but enjoyed the first trade of Paper Girls when it came out.

Great news on Oscar Isaac too. Amazing in Moon Knight.

Now let's see 'em try doing Saga as TV show.  :lol
